The opportunity

Our Finance team sits at the centre of Netwealth’s operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, from financial reporting through to how we pay and support our people.

We’re looking for a Payroll Specialist to join the team in a full-time, permanent role. This is a pivotal position responsible for the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless experience for employees.

You’ll be stepping into a role that is both operational and collaborative. You’ll partner closely with Finance and People & Culture, navigate complex payroll scenarios, and play a key role in maintaining trust through getting the detail right.

This role would suit someone who enjoys ownership, takes pride in precision, and wants to be part of a team that values agility, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • End-to-end payroll processing across regular, off-cycle, and termination payments
  • Ensuring accurate calculation of salaries, overtime, allowances, deductions, and back payments
  • Managing payroll compliance across tax, superannuation, STP, and industrial relations requirements
  • Interpreting awards, entitlements, and statutory obligations
  • Maintaining payroll data and employee records in Workday
  • Reconciling payroll accounts, including PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, and WorkCover
  • Supporting month-end activities, reporting, and payroll journals
  • Administering employee benefits and salary sacrifice arrangements (e.g. novated leases, commuter club)
  • Responding to payroll queries and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Supporting audits, year-end processes, and regulatory submissions

About You

You’re a payroll specialist who understands the importance of both accuracy and experience. You’re confident managing end-to-end payroll, comfortable navigating complexity, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
  • Strong working knowledge of Fair Work legislation, superannuation, and payroll tax
  • Experience interpreting awards and employment entitlements
  • Solid understanding of Single Touch Payroll (STP) and ATO compliance requirements
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and year-end processes
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
  • Experience with Workday (strongly preferred)

Additionally, we also have a 3 month Workday Payroll Officer Contract role available as well for those who are seeking short-term engagement. Please reach out to ask us more!
