Job Brief

The role will be responsible for supporting end-to-end project accounting life cycle activities for assigned accounts and projects. The role will be involved with stakeholder coordination to execute processes that will drive the completion of assigned projects.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

Lead Project Accounting Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day project accounting activities
  • Ensure accurate: Revenue recognition Cost allocation Billing and invoicing Project setup and closeout WIP (Work in Progress) monitoring
  • Review project financial data for accuracy and compliance
  • Highly knowledgeable in the full Project Life Cycle (Project Initiation, Project Execution, Project Maintenance and Project Closure).

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and review: Project financial reports Forecasts and budgets Variance analysis EACs (Estimate at Completion) Utilization and profitability reports
  • Provide insights to Project Managers and leadership teams

Process Improvement & Governance

  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies in accounting workflows
  • Standardize and optimize project accounting processes
  • Create SOPs, process documentation, and controls
  • Support automation initiatives and system enhancements
  • Ensure compliance with: Company policies Internal controls Audit requirements /GAAP standards

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with: Project Managers Finance leaders Operations teams Onshore stakeholders Shared services teams
  • Support project reviews and financial discussions
  • Escalate financial risks and operational issues when needed

Team Leadership

  • Guide and mentor Project Accountants
  • Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Monitor productivity, SLA/KPI performance, and quality metrics
  • Assist with workload balancing and backup planning

Accounting Principles

  • Has advanced knowledge of project accounting, providing support for the most complex and/or large-scale projects. 
  • Makes recommendations for project improvement based on review of financial results and knowledge of project(s). 
  • Researches general ledger account reconciliations, journal entry preparation and A/R cash adjustments. 
  • Works with customers or clients to gather and provide information. 
  • May review contracts for additional service opportunities and assist in converting project proposal into project budget.
  • Amenable for morning shift schedule (9AM to 6PM, Manila time)
  • Open for hybrid set-up, 3x per week RTO (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent relevant courses
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in Project Accounting
  • Knowledge and understanding of end-to-end project lifecycle, project accounting concepts & methodology, and contract types.
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition and long-term construction contracts is preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office tools & MS Teams application
  • Experience in a shared service or captive set-up is an advantage.
  • Experience working with ERP, e.i., Oracle and Blackline Systems is an advantage or other similar platforms and tools
