About the organization: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success. About the team: Compass Childcare Support Services is an enhanced support program for families in San Francisco experiencing homelessness with a child 0-5 years old. Our Case Managers work with families to support their efforts to access, enroll in, and maintain stable quality subsidized childcare for their children. Compensation: $27 - $31 hourly Schedule: Full time (37.5 hours/week), Monday - Friday, primarily during standard business hours Location: 37 Grove St, San Francisco. In person 4-5 days per week. Organizational Core Competencies: Accountable I Adaptable I Client-centered I Collaborative I Committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging I Resourceful Case Manager Responsibilities: Compass Childcare Support Services Case Managers help homeless families find affordable, high quality childcare, so that parents can job search, work, or go to school. Specific responsibilities include: Screen families experiencing homelessness for eligibility for subsidized childcare options in San Francisco for kids aged 0-5. Meet with families to assess their childcare preferences to ensure a good match of family need and site. Support families in making sure they are ready to enroll their children in care and addressing barriers like transportation and language access. Regularly check in with clients who are placed into subsidized care. Support parents to ensure that the child is thriving in the program and any barriers are addressed. Address and help resolve any communication challenges between families and their childcare providers. Help parents/caregivers set employment or educational goals and connect with community resources. The Case Manager should have these skills: Demonstrated understanding of issues facing homeless and low-income families Experience working in crisis situations; ability to assess and de-escalate situations quickly Professional experience in early childhood education is helpful but not required Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills, including an ability to develop trusting relationships with diverse individuals Outstanding work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative, team-oriented, organized Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience with Salesforce is a plus! Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work Compensation, Benefits and Location: Salary range: $27 - $31 per hour, 7.5 hours per day / 37.5 hours per week. Non-exempt. Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave. Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance. Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-6. Location: fully in person at 37 Grove St for the first three months, then option to work remotely one day per week pending manager approval. Membership in OPEIU/Local 29 union.
