Hybrid model 3 days per week in the office /2 days for a parent of a child up to 4 years old

Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. is currently recruiting a Sr. Accountant to join its Fund Accounting and Reporting team.  This role involves reviewing financial, tax and investor reporting data, collaborating with fund administrators and various internal and external stakeholders to review monthly and quarterly NAV reports and other ad hoc reporting for the BBH Real Estate Funds, Private Equity and/or Hedge Funds. The position requires knowledge of partnership accounting, partnership tax, investment company accounting and financial reporting and oversight of the Funds’ external auditors for the annual audits.  Responsibilities also include reviewing  Fund K-1’s, federal and state tax returns,  tax forms, and  performance analytics such as IRR’s, total returns, and as well as ensuring timely payment of Fund expenses.

Key responsibilities:  

  • Conduct initial review of monthly/quarterly financial reporting from service providers for BBH private funds including management of capital calls, redemptions/distributions, assignments, familiarity with management fee calculations, carried interest waterfalls, and performance fees.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial and tax reporting to investors.
  • Review fund  expenses and ensure  timely payment while providing a strong internal control environment and oversight.
  • Oversee and provide and feedback to the Fund’s administrators, auditors, tax preparers and other internal and external groups.
  • Review and provide feedback on investor capital calls, distributions, and redemption calculations and notices.
  • Review and provide feedback federal and state tax returns, investor K-1s and other tax forms prepared by internal and external tax preparers.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in fund accounting, either within a fund or an administrator.
  • Strong accounting skills, knowledge of partnership accounting, and understanding of K-1 and Partnership/Corporate tax reporting as well as investment company accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to independently identify and solve problems.
  • Effective communication skills to resolve issues with Service Providers.
  • The ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage deliverables efficiently.
  • Experience with Big 4 fund audit and CPA certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of real estate fund accounting is a plus.
