Job description

The Golf Maintenance Attendant is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer.  They perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance and landscaping across property; does semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operates small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally performs work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and zero turn mowers.

The Golf Maintenance Attendant:

  • Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
  • Mows greens, tees, aprons, and approaches to greens, and other areas not accessible with zero turn mowers; rakes sand traps with power rakes.
  • Operates mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, backpack sprayers, etc. as needed in various areas throughout property.
  • Sets tee markers daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed; removes debris; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots.
  • Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failures to the Equipment Mechanic immediately.
  • Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; cleans the maintenance areas.
  • Waters various areas across property as instructed by the Golf Maintenance Supervisor.
  • May mark the course for cart control weekly by moving cart control barriers, replacing worn or lost ropes and signs and by marking hazard and drop areas.
  • Helps in project work by assisting in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grading and preparing soil base; laying sod; and seeding tees, greens and fairways, as instructed.
  • Excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
  • Operate mowers, or other light equipment.
  • Assists the Horticulturist with tasks such as, but not limited to:
    • Designing and cleaning flowers beds
    • Cultivating and caring for shrubs and flowers
    • Trimming and pruning hedges and shrubbery
    • Maintaining health of plants and appearance of displays
    • Maintaining low-pressure irrigation systems for landscaping
    • Applying pesticides and fertilizers to ornamental plantings as needed
    • Maintaining and repairing gardening hand tools, equipment and structures.
    • Operating trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris
  • Learns regarding maintenance and the proper cleaning and safe operation of equipment
  • This position operates in a working environment that is subject to hazards associated with use of pesticides and general landscape care products, basic hand and power tools, and gardening/mowing equipment.
  • This position generally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions.  Proper clothing is provided.
  • Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
  • Machines and equipment used are but not limited to basic hand and power tools; gardening and mowing equipment; spray equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction/maintenance work.
  • Basic knowledge of landscaping design, irrigation systems and use of pesticides and fertilizers preferred.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • This position is physical in nature and requires the incumbent to bend, carry, squat, stand, twist and lift up to 50+ pounds and push/pull up to 50+ pounds throughout shift and according to specific tasks.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.
  • Minimum of six months’ experience in landscaping or mechanics preferred, but not required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 

 

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education, experience in landscaping and general grounds maintenance, and/or through two months’ on-the-job training.
