Job description
What We Offer Assists with the safe patient handling, preparation and maintenance of the surgical environment to facilitate room turnover under direction of the Registered Nurse in collaboration with the surgical team. What You'll Do Essential Functions Planning: Gather supplies / instruments / equipment pertinent to scheduled procedure. Review assignment with the nurse to receive direction for priority of work according to patient needs. Restock operating rooms, solutions and warmers. Providing: Prepare and/or open supplies / instruments / equipment pertinent to the scheduled procedure. Assist with the transportation, transfer, preparation, and positioning of patients. Respond to patient, physician, team members’ needs. Notify surgeon and anesthesiologist that patient is in room and ready. Perform pre-operative clip preps. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Assist with turnover of the operating room in a timely, efficient manner. Secure patient in proper position for administration of regional anesthetics and surgical preps. Utilize knowledge of sterile technique to assist with intra-operative patient care. Coordinating: Participate in staff meetings and interact with employees, physicians, patients and visitors in a positive and informative manner. Assist with the orientation and training of staff. Perform in emergency situations under the direction of the RN or MD. Participate in staff development. Transport specimens, blood, drugs, equipment, etc. between departments/facilities. Communicating: Demonstrate, explain and reinforce equipment use. Relay information to the surgical team. Collaborate with the leadership team to identify and help resolve unit issues. Medication: The employee will be authorized to assist professional staff in the handling of medications in accordance with assigned job duties. Competency and training will be required which will be validated upon completion of mandatory online medication training module. What We're Looking For Education : High School Diploma or GED, required. Experience : 1 year of experience, required. Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
