Why this role matters
For many young people, getting a driver’s licence is more than a practical skill. It represents independence, confidence and access to education, employment and community. The Drive for Life Program supports young people who may not have the resources, support or opportunities to achieve this on their own.
As the Youth Driving Program Coordinator, you help remove those barriers. You guide young people through a structured program, connect them with supportive driving instructors and volunteer mentors and create an environment where they feel encouraged and capable. Your leadership helps young people take meaningful steps toward independence and a stronger future.
About the role
You will coordinate all aspects of the Drive for Life Program for young people aged 16 to 25. This includes participant recruitment, program planning, volunteer coordination, scheduling driving lessons keep on top of fleet vehicle maintenance and maintaining strong relationships with community partners. You will also provide in car instruction for a small caseload of participants.
This role suits someone who enjoys building relationships, creating structure, supporting volunteers and working alongside young people as they grow in confidence. You will be part of a supportive Youth Services team committed to helping young people achieve meaningful goals.
This permanent full-time position is within the Youth Services team in Kalgoorlie, reporting to the Program Manager. Pay is in accordance with SCHADS Level 4.
How you will make an impact
Coordinate and deliver the Drive for Life Program in partnership with community stakeholders
Promote the program through community events and youth networks
Manage referrals and support a caseload of young people working toward their provisional licence
Schedule and oversee driving instructor lessons and volunteer supervised driving sessions
Maintain accurate program documentation, reports, data and risk management plans
Build and sustain strong relationships with local agencies, schools and community groups
Provide in car instruction to a small number of participants
Support continuous improvement and contribute to local processes and program development
Ensure all financial and administrative requirements are completed accurately and on time
What you will bring
Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Information Technology or equivalent experience
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young people, volunteers and community partners
Experience working collaboratively with other organisations
Confidence using Microsoft Office, email and digital record keeping
A team focused approach and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
Understanding of work health and safety obligations
A calm, organised and supportive approach to coordinating multiple moving parts
Current WA manual driver’s licence (minimum three years including provisional time)
Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
Willingness to undertake training to become a qualified driving instructor
