About the Donor Support Coordinator
24/7 Call Center Environment | 12-Hour Shifts
Must be flexible to work Days or Nights, including weekends and holidays
The Donor Support Coordinator plays a critical role in the tissue donation process, helping facilitate the gift of donation from referral through recovery. This position works in a fast-paced, high-volume call center environment where every call has the potential to impact lives through transplantation.
Tissue donation can help heal and improve the lives of patients through transplants such as skin, bone, heart valves, tendons, and corneas. Donor Support Coordinators help evaluate donation suitability, coordinate the donation process, and compassionately support families during difficult moments.
This role is best suited for someone who is compassionate, emotionally resilient, detail-oriented, and motivated by meaningful work.
- Receive and manage incoming donor referral calls in a 24/7 call center setting
- Screen patient medical and social history with:
- Hospital staff
- Nurses
- Medical examiners
- Technicians
- Organ recovery personnel
- Family members
- Evaluate donation suitability using established policies and medical criteria
- Communicate with next of kin regarding donation opportunities after the loss of a loved one
- Guide families through sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism
- Obtain and verify legal authorization for donation
- Coordinate and dispatch technician teams
- Accurately document detailed medical and social history information in a timely manner
- Maintain compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout the donation process

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience
- One to two years related experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic medical terminology knowledge
- Basic computer skills with a typing speed of at least 25 WPM
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to manage challenging or emotionally charged conversations professionally
- Experience working with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds
- Proven ability to handle conflict resolution positively and professionally
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree
- Three to four years related experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist, EMT-P, LPN, or RT
- Experience in healthcare, call center, crisis response, patient support, or customer service environments
- Medical scribe or medical documentation experience
- Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply
