Additional Information About the Role The Assistant Program Manager, Capacity Management Center (CMC) plays a key leadership role in a fast-paced, system-wide Transfer Center supporting adult patient placement across six hospitals, 24/7. This position is at the center of patient flow and capacity operations, helping ensure patients are placed efficiently while maintaining high standards of care. This role leads impactful work in clinical education, patient safety, and quality , including enhancing onboarding and orientation programs, developing annual competencies using a data-driven approach, and driving improvements based on safety event trends. You’ll also lead and develop a team, partnering closely with system leaders to standardize processes and strengthen outcomes across the organization. This is a hybrid position based at BJC Commons , with regular onsite presence, system site visits, and collaboration across multiple Hospital Service Organizations. The schedule is primarily Monday–Friday, with a rotating on-call week every 3–4 weeks to support 24/7 operations. Flexibility is key, including occasional early start times and intentional engagement with both day and night shift teams. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Oversees the daily clinical operations for BJC's Capacity Management Center. Upholds the importance of delivering standardized and reliable care for the clients in our community. Implements processes to ensure effective and efficient Capacity Management Center operations. Collaborates closely with the Program Manager for the Capacity Management Center to ensure adequate staff to meet demands. Is flexible and meets the ever-changing demands of healthcare. Must be forward thinking and able to change course quickly as system needs arise. Responsibilities Partners with HSO house supervisors and those responsible for daily capacity management activities across the system to understand needs and assist with problem solving. Works with Program Manager to develop and implement recommendations for standardized processes/procedures. Monitors outcomes and adjusts as needed to meet the clinical and operational demands. Is customer centric and provides consultation with unit and HSO-based leaders regarding Capacity Management issues as they arise. Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate care through evidence-based practice, national benchmarks, monitoring of quality/safety measures/audits to achieve quality outcomes. Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership. Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals. Supports and assists the growth of existing and new workforce management technologies and processes. Maintains comprehensive understanding of internal and industry standards, as well as of the changing business environment.
