Job description

Duties will include a variety of reception and clerical functions including registering patients; answering telephone; completing requisitions; transcribing doctors' orders; scheduling appointments; ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies; preparing stretchers; filing; data entry on computer system; staff scheduling. Other duties as required.

  • One (1) year recent relevant clerical experience in a healthcare setting, or recent Medical Office Administration Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution required
  • Grade 12 diploma required
  • Medical terminology certificate required
  • A minimum of 30 wpm typing speed required
  • Must have fast and accurate computer data entry skills
  • Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience using patient related databases.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and function independently in a busy environment
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to diplomatically respond to inquiries from staff, volunteers, patients, family members and members of the general public
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently
  • Must be physically able to perform the job: prolonged periods of time sitting; standing; walking; and pushing and pulling variety of wheeled equipment.
  • Satisfactory employment record and attendance record required
  • Relevant experience in a Mental Health inpatient setting

The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.

 

Hours: Monday to Sunday;  7.5 hour shifts, 10:00 to 18:00 (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)

Salary:  $30.04 to $30.65 per hour
