Summary of Job Duties:

The ATC Teacher Development Manager (TDM) monitors the teacher training and individual progress of Fellows enrolled in the Arkansas Teacher Corps (ATC) program and is responsible for facilitating learning communities for novice teachers at partner schools to increase student achievement. In order to coach teachers toward greater student learning, the Teacher Development Manager will be responsible for setting and maintaining a rigorous vision for excellent, equitable education across grade levels and content areas by building reciprocal, trusting relationships with teachers and other stakeholders; facilitating workshops and other whole-group learning during summer institute and the school year; observing and debriefing teachers’ instruction; leveraging a variety of coaching methods and approaches to support adult learners individually; analyzing student and teacher data to assess classroom needs; and creating a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and learning within their cohort.

Additional responsibilities for this position will include tracking fellow attendance, completion of program expectations, and requirements for teacher licensure; communicating with principals, mentor teachers, and other stakeholders regarding Fellows’ progress; assisting Fellows with long-term goal-setting and monitoring progress towards goals; supporting struggling Fellows through targeted support plans and differentiated interventions; and collaborating with the ATC team to assess programmatic gaps and identify systemic solutions. The Teacher Development Manager will also collaborate with the ATC team to plan and execute the seven-week Summer Institute, including full-time attendance on site during in-person components and regular attendance during virtual components as well as additional duties as needed that may include coordinating logistics, planning/facilitating sessions, and/or training/supervising part-time mentors and facilitators as needed. The Manager will also be called on to assist in the recruitment and selection of Fellow, including reviewing applications and conducting interviews.

The Teacher Development Manager must be able and willing to travel across the state by automobile and be available to work some nights and weekends. The Manager must also be available for the seven-week Summer Institute for incoming Fellows which will require them to live and work on-site during portions of the summer training.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Experience teaching K-12 with a strong track record of student achievement

  • Experience with developing, coaching, or managing adults

  • Experience building relationships with community groups


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching a hard-to-fill content area or grade level

  • At least three years K-12 teaching experience in diverse public schools

  • Experience supporting or training novice teachers specifically

  • Resides or willing to reside in service area (central or eastern Arkansas)

Additional Information:

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
