General Maintenance Engineer

The general maintenance engineer is expected to perform semiskilled plumbing, maintenance and repair duties for the property. They will be responsible for ensuring that the rooms and property are maintained in the best possible condition, with the least inconvenience to guests.

EDUCATION

• Trade school or college course work in related field helpful. 
• At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field required. 
• High school diploma preferred. 
• Previous supervisory responsibility preferred but not necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Long hours sometimes may be required. 
• Very Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
• Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
• Must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.

OTHER ABILITIES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE                                                                         

• Training in a trade helpful: carpentry, HVAC, etc. 
• Good plumbing skills required.
