IT Business Analyst Job Description Role Summary
The IT Business Analyst acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams. They analyze business needs, translate them into IT requirements, and ensure technology solutions deliver measurable value. This role is critical in aligning IT systems with organizational goals and improving efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into functional IT requirements.
- Document workflows, processes, and system specifications.
- Solution Design & Validation
- Work with developers, architects, and vendors to design solutions that meet business objectives.
- Conduct gap analysis between current systems and desired outcomes.
- Project Support
- Support IT project planning, testing, and implementation.
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, and presentations to ensure alignment.
- Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop test cases and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Validate that delivered solutions meet agreed requirements.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to optimize processes and systems.
- Provide insights on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Required Skills & Competencies
- 5+ years of relevant Experience in IT Business Analyst
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Drive, excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in requirements documentation and modeling (e.g., UML, BPMN)
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Experience of large digital transformation programs
- Knowledge of IT systems, databases, and integration concepts
- Ability to translate technical language into business-friendly terms
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field
- Experience as a Business Analyst in IT projects (typically 3–5 years)
- Certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI-PBA are advantageous

- Accuracy and clarity of requirements documentation

- Reduction in project rework due to well-defined requirements
- Timely delivery of IT projects within scope and budget
Reporting Line
- Reports to: IT Project Manager / Head of IT PMO
- Works closely with: EA, CS, Developers, QA Analysts, Business Stakeholders, Vendors
