Please note: this role can be supported remotely from within Canada. Optimal support locations are in the Calgary, AB and Guelph, ON areas.

To support this challenge, Syngenta’s Crop Protection Commercial is currently seeking a Product Lead – Row Crop Fungicides, Insecticides and Plant Growth Regulators.
This role will develop strategies and provide leadership to maximize the lifetime profitability of products from test tube to exit, while ensuring Canada business receives strong brands that are well-designed, properly positioned, and efficiently supplied for incorporation into customer offers.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the development of product strategies, from acquisition and development, through post-patent and exit.
- Direct and approve product developments, including new active ingredients (AI’s), formulation, packaging, label enhancements, to ensure maximum impact in the marketplace.
- Manage contribution of products and product lines by driving maximum revenue, allocating fixed resources, and managing product cost.
- Establish brand pricing strategy, including net price, and manage territory pricing consistency.
- Deliver strong brand awareness and positioning by collaborating with Marketing Communications team on brand advertising/promotion, ensuring brand consistency across solutions.
- Responsible for third-party AI’s or brands in the portfolio, ensuring consistency with brand strategy.
- Work closely with Business Development to develop, implement, and manage post-patent strategies.
- Manage product supply levels and establish/allocate safety stocks.
- Develop short & long-term marketing plans and product forecasts (sales, volumes & profit contribution).
- Contribute to Global and Regional product strategy development as a member of the product leadership team.
Required:
- A minimum of a B.S. degree, preferably in Agriculture, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of Marketing and/or Sales experience in the Crop Protection industry.
- Up to 20% travel is required for this role.
- Must have a valid passport.
Desired:
- Understanding of agriculture, marketplace dynamics, and customer needs.
- Knowledge of marketing principles - positioning, market & financial analysis, communications.
- Broad knowledge of product development process, regulatory requirements, and production & logistical systems.
- Knowledge of brand strategy development and implementation.
