ABOUT HERSCHEL SUPPLY

Welcome to Herschel Supply, where we make quality products for a lifetime of better journeys. Designed with timeless form and intuitive function in Vancouver, Canada, every piece is backed by our signature warranty for wherever you’re going next.

Since 2009, we’ve never stopped taking risks. We’re constantly innovating, growing our community and heading on new journeys. We’ve gotten lost in new cities, made lifelong friends all over the world, road tripped with no GPS, and explored a ton of creative pursuits along the way.

Putting yourself out there isn’t easy. It means stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying something new. It might be scary at first, but it also leads to the best parts of life. Inspiring others to take that leap is what we live for. Wherever you’re headed, we’re here to help you pack your future with possibilities.

So, come along for the ride, get inspired and Put Yourself Out There.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As part of the Sourcing team, the Colour & Raw Materials Developer helps bring each season’s product vision to life through thoughtful colour and material development across all product categories. Partnering closely with Design, Development, Sourcing, and global manufacturing teams, you’ll help to ensure that colours, materials, and related approvals align with brand expectations, technical requirements, and seasonal timelines.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping the product development process organized, accurate, and moving forward by supporting day-to-day communication, tracking approvals, maintaining libraries, and managing seasonal development workflows. If you’re highly organized, detail-oriented, and energized by collaborating across teams, this is an opportunity to contribute to products that are seen, used and loved around the world.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Working closely with the Product Design, Development, Sourcing, and external manufacturing teams, the Colour & Raw Materials Assistant will be responsible for the following:

Development Support & Data Administration

  • Drive the seasonal colour development process by building and maintaining colour palettes within the PLM system.
  • Execute and track all Lab Dip and print Strike-off submissions to ensure seasonal development timelines remain on track.
  • Process and order physical colour standards and digital files required for vendor production.
  • Maintain daily communication with global manufacturing partners through internal communication tools such as Basecamp.
  • Participate in the visual review of lab dips and production print submissions against approved standards to support colour consistency across all product categories.
  • Help identify and communicate potential colour achievability or feasibility concerns to cross-functional partners.

Raw Materials Coordination & Development Support

  • Support seasonal raw material development workflows, including tracking submissions, approvals, and supplier communication.
  • Assist in maintaining raw material libraries, seasonal material boards, and archive systems.
  • Coordinate material submissions and ensure all relevant information, testing requirements, and approvals are accurately tracked within the PLM system.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to help monitor material development timelines and escalate potential risks to key milestones.
  • Support communication with global suppliers regarding material specifications, development status, and approval requirements.
  • Assist with material data integrity, organization, and seasonal carryover tracking.

Technical Review & Quality Support

  • Support the review and organization of approved colour and material standards used for production reference.
  • Help gather and maintain supplier performance data based on established KPIs to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all development comments, approvals, and statuses are maintained accurately within internal systems.

DELIVERABLES & KPIs

  • Maintain accurate and timely updates of colour palettes, material statuses, approvals, and comments within the PLM system.
  • Ensure Lab Dip requests, Strike-offs, material submissions, and standard orders are processed within established seasonal timelines.
  • Maintain organized and accessible physical colour and material libraries for cross-functional reference and approvals.
  • Support timely communication and issue resolution with global vendor partners.
  • Contribute to the successful execution of seasonal Go-To-Market calendar milestones.

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience working with colour development, textile production, or fabric sourcing for an apparel, accessories, or lifestyle brand.
  • Must possess a highly trained colour eye and successfully pass the Munsell 100 Colour Test.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and possessing prior hands-on experience or exposure working with PLM systems.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to systematically manage physical samples alongside digital tracking logs.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing administrative tasks, and achieve tight production deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service mindset when working with internal designers and external factory partners.
