The Paramedic provides and documents individualized patient care to include patient and personal safety, patient assessments in collaboration with the supervising RN or RT, patient re-assessments, triage, maintaining airway patency, IV access and hang IV fluids without additives, ECG interpretations, dysrhythmias recognition, places patients on defined oxygen delivering devices and assists with the application of skeletal traction/splints/immobilizers and other orthopedic equipment under the supervision of a Licensed Physician. Job Title: Paramedic Dept: APH Mobile Transport Status: Full Time Shift: Varies The Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team transports and provides comprehensive care to an age population of birth to 18 years. Care is provided to patients with the need for maintenance of an adequate airway, cardiovascular integrity, adequate fluid and electrolyte balance, and hemodynamic stability. The Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team is based at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Medical coverage for the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Requests for transport from referring physicians will be directed to the PICU Intensivist/Fellow on call for the Pediatric Critical Care patients. For the acute care patients, requests will be directed to the Admitting physician. The team will be activated by the transfer center as soon as an accepting physician is identified. We begin our benefits on day one and offer flexibility wherever possible, so that you can be present for your passions. “Orlando Health Is Your Best Place to Work” is not just something we say, it’s our promise to you Responsibilities Essential Functions • Delivers patient care requiring advanced skills and judgment in the Emergency Department, Critical Care or Respiratory Department settings as directed by the appropriate Medical Director for specialty to include protocol orders or guidelines within approved current Paramedic competency. • The competency will not exceed the educational guidelines for a paramedic in the State of Florida. • The Florida paramedic practice model includes invasive and pharmacologic interventions intended to reduce morbidity and mortality in the pre-hospital environment. • It is expected that in the hospital setting where medical care and resources are readily available, this practice model will be modified. • Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, and ED or Critical Care, Pulmonary providers or their designee and documents findings of care provided according to established guidelines. • Provides for the physical comfort and safety of patients, visitors, and members of the health care team including infection control and appropriate handling of hazardous materials. • Prioritizes and sequences work activities and delivery of medical care to patients that ensures the patient’s comfort, safety, and progress toward established goals. • Administers limited medications safely within the defined education guidelines and competencies. • Facilitates patient movement within the department and through the facility, proactively supporting timely admissions, discharges, and transfers. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and localstandards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies andprocedures. • Ensures the customer experience is exceptional. • Demonstrates The Orlando Health Way: Assure, Engage, Unite Qualifications Education/Training Successfully completed a Paramedic program.
