Our AECOM Controls Team is a highly regarded, award-winning group within our Infrastructure & PMO Operating Unit. We work with both public and private sector clients in the UK and globally, supporting areas including Cost, Risk, Planning, and Controls. Our focus is on providing cutting-edge Controls Analytics solutions that empower clients to make data-driven decisions for managing project controls and overall performance effectively.
The team brings advanced analytics and insights across project controls functions, helping clients implement and optimise their processes to manage project risks, schedule performance, and financial health. Leveraging emerging technologies and data-driven strategies, we provide market solutions for clients, ensuring they have a robust basis for informed decision-making.
The Opportunity: Due to continued growth, we are looking for a proactive and analytical Consultant to join our Controls Analytics team. This role is suited to someone with 2–3 years’ experience in analytics, project controls, PMO or a related field, who is looking to further develop their career in a specialist and growing area. You will work on major infrastructure projects, helping to deliver practical analytics solutions that improve performance visibility across cost, schedule and risk.
Role Overview: The Controls Analytics Consultant will support the delivery of analytics and performance insights across major infrastructure projects. Working closely with project managers, risk specialists, planners and commercial teams, the role will help improve visibility of project performance and support informed decision-making. The consultant will contribute to the development of practical analytics solutions across cost, schedule and risk, while continuing to build their technical and project controls capability.
Here's What You'll Do
Controls Analytics & Reporting:
- Support the development and maintenance of dashboards and reports that provide insight into project and programme performance across PMO functions.
- Develop and monitor key project performance indicators, identifying trends, deviations and opportunities for improvement.
- Present clear and actionable insights to stakeholders to support effective project governance and decision-making.
Data Modelling & Analysis:
- Support the development of analytical models and reporting approaches to assess potential project outcomes based on current data and trends.
Risk and Performance Management
- Work with risk and project controls teams to support the use of data-led insights within the wider controls process.
- Contribute to forecasting, performance analysis and risk-informed reporting to help provide a holistic view of project performance.
- Exposure to quantitative risk analysis approaches, including QSRA and QCRA, would be beneficial.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with project teams and senior colleagues to understand requirements, explore desired outcomes and support the delivery of tailored analytics solutions.
- Communicate analytics insights and recommendations in a clear and accessible manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Compliance & Governance:
- Support the application of controls analytics methodologies and practices in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain awareness of developments in analytics tools, techniques, associated technologies and project controls best practice.

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? (Qualifications and Experience)
Here’s what we’re looking for
Analytics & Data Skills:
- Experience using Power BI, Excel or similar tools to analyse data and produce clear reporting outputs.
- Ability to work with data from multiple sources and translate it into practical, useful insights.
- Exposure to SQL, Python or data modelling techniques would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Problem Solving & Insight Generation:
- Strong ability to interpret data sets, identify issues and generate practical insights.
- Good analytical problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in monitoring, reporting and decision support.
Communication & Presentation:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey insights and analytics results clearly through presentations and reporting.
Project Controls Knowledge:
- Some understanding of project controls disciplines such as cost, schedule, risk or performance reporting.
- Awareness of concepts such as forecasting, variance analysis and earned value would be beneficial.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Working towards or holding a relevant professional certification (e.g. AACE, APM or similar) would be beneficial.
- Around 2–3 years’ experience in analytics, project controls, PMO, finance, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working with project, operational or performance data in infrastructure, construction, energy or consultancy environments is desirable.
- Exposure to reporting, dashboarding, data analysis or controls-related activities on projects or programmes would be beneficial.
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar, along with strong Excel capability.
- Exposure to cost or schedule analytics tools, statistical analysis or data modelling techniques would be beneficial.
