Overview
The Practice Leader oversees all aspects of the project life cycle, including initial research/planning, concept development, final design, and construction. This position leads project teams towards successful adoption of new design ideas and possesses a strong mastery of design fundamentals. This position is expected to oversee a portfolio of multiple projects concurrently and deliver on expectations within tight deadlines. In addition to leading a team of engineers and technical professionals, this position will also be actively involved in professional associations and community organizations as Pape-Dawson continues building partnerships within the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials, and community leaders
- Provide overall guidance on the design and technical aspects of the team(s) projects
- Prepare proposals and client agreements
- Monitor project tasks, budgets, and schedules with Senior Project Managers and Project Managers
- Responsible for the oversight of technical and professional development of project team(s)
- Participate in developing company design and production standards
- Actively participate in professional associations and civic organizations
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the State of Texas, or the ability to obtain in 6 months.
- Minimum of 15 years' experience managing substantial projects from conception to completion including estimating costs of technical tasks in W/WW projects; at least 10 of those years managing projects; Houston area experience and contacts are a strong plus
- Strong background with W/WW facility projects
- Proven ability to effectively communicate, both oral and written skills, with all levels of employees in an organization
- Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials, and community leaders
- Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and support personnel
- Actively involved in professional associations and civic organization
