As a Director - OGC, you will provide strategic legal guidance and support across various industries, focusing on corporate matters such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and compliance. Within our Internal Firm Services practice, you will leverage your skills in corporate law to navigate complex legal frameworks and minimize legal risks for internal stakeholders and clients. As a Director, you will set the strategic direction, inspire others, and drive business growth while maintaining executive-level relationships. You will cultivate potential in others and actively collaborate across the PwC Network, understanding tradeoffs and leveraging collective strengths.

In this role at PwC Acceleration Center India, you will be a guardian of PwC's reputation, upholding quality, integrity, and inclusion as foundational to success. You will create a healthy working environment, maximizing client satisfaction and promoting technological advances. Your role will involve developing new ideas, solutions, and structures, driving thought leadership, and making strategic choices to address system-level enablers. You will identify market gaps and convert opportunities into success for the firm, adhering to professional and technical standards and the firm's code of conduct.

Responsibilities

·       At least 15 years of post-qualification legal experience, with a strong preference for at least 5 years’ experience as in-house counsel preferably for the Indian subsidiary of a multinational company

·       Deep understanding of the key aspects of employment and labor law, including federal and local requirements. Preferred experience on employment laws for India, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Manila

·       Familiarity with the key regulatory and other legal requirements associated with the human capital component of the delivery of professional services in India, and experience with compliance with associated laws and regulations

·       Litigation and arbitration experience is good to have

·       Ability to work independently and pragmatically, identify risks and proposing business solutions while maintaining compliance with laws and regulations

·       Ability to exercise intellectual agility, independent judgement, high levels of organization, attention to detail, autonomous balancing of tasks, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to handle high-pressure situations

·       Experience collaborating with and managing outside counsel to obtain advice and develop solutions to legal problems in a rapid and cost-effective manner

·       Ability to monitor legal and regulatory developments for impact on PwC’s business

·       Experience building and maintaining relationships with senior members of an organization and their support teams

·       Experience establishing processes and implementing systems to address recurring issues

·       Excellent communication skills, in particular the ability to convey the practical consequences of complex legal issues to non-lawyers

·       Ability to exercise judgment regarding confidential and sensitive information

·       Business focus and willingness to work towards pragmatic solutions

·       Ability to collaborate with others in a fast-paced environment

·       Familiarity with legal and other productivity technology tools, and overall high level of digital acumen

·       Prior experience of working with cross border teams and proven track record of collaborating with internal stakeholders.

What You Must Have

Key responsibilities

Advise on employment law for Advisory/Consulting in India, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Manila 

Support/lead restructures, litigation, arbitrations, M&A due diligence 

Oversee employee asset transfers between entities 

Review, draft, align employment policies, practices and employee communications across APAC 

Advise on hiring, terminations, investigations, compliance

Deliver employment law training 

 

Team Management 

 

Proven experience managing and developing legal teams (minimum 2 direct reports)
