Senior Manager, Regional Venue Logistics:

The Logistics functional area department is responsible for effectively and efficiently providing materials management and logistics support to all LA28 functional areas. The Senior Manager, Regional Venue Logistics oversees the full lifecycle of logistics planning and operations for a region of Olympic and Paralympic venues. This includes detailed planning, staff recruiting and training, and implementation of plans at Games-time. The Senior Manager, Regional Venue Logistics will ensure the seamless, secure, and sustainable movement, storage, distribution and recovery of goods across the assigned region in alignment with Games-time requirements and sustainability goals.

Reporting to the Head of Venue Logistics, the ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a high level of customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Personnel Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to venues across a designated region of competition and non-competition venues
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training programs, ensuring personnel are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and safety awareness
  • Monitor staff performance and productivity, offering coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to maintain high service standards across designated logistics teams
  • Support and foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture that reflects LA28’s values and commitment to excellence

Venue / Village Planning

  • Assist Head of Venue Logistics with managing the overall Venue / Village Logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective and resource-optimized operations across venues
  • Verify resource requirements including staffing, equipment types, and quantities
  • In coordination with Material Planning, oversee the functional allocation of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE) across each region to ensure optimal utilization and alignment with operational needs
  • Collaborate with each designated venue Event Management and Venue Infrastructure (Overlay) teams to determine the physical footprint and space requirements for logistics operations at each venue and village
  • Contribute to the drafting, refining, publishing, and distribution of the Delivering to Venues Guide
  • Verify with Fuel Team the placement of fuel dispensing units and develop systems for physically tracking on-venue / on-village fuel usage from internal functions and delivery partners, ensuring accountability and cost control
  • Coordinate with LA28 functions and suppliers to develop and maintain an integrated supply chain that supports efficient logistics operations
  • Continue the planning framework for scheduling the delivery and removal of materials across a designated region, ensuring seamless operations with minimal disruption and maximum efficiency
  • Develop initial logistics operating plans for designated region, including the creation of departmental policies, procedures, staff orientation, and training programs
  • Establish clear operating protocols with Security and third-party service providers to ensure coordinated efforts and secure operations across the region
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives minimizing waste and maximizing asset recovery through effective post-Games disposition strategies
  • Foster workplace safety initiatives within region, including the monitoring of on-venue training programs, adherence to benchmark standards, ongoing safety monitoring, and prompt resolution of any identified hazards or unsafe practices

Operations

  • Oversee the coordination of Venue Logistics Managers (VLMs) with the Material Planning and Warehousing & Distribution teams for the pre-bump-in exercises
  • Monitor Venue and Village activities across all sites using command center tools and dashboard to proactively address operational trends and disruptions
  • Lead incident response and resolution for logistics-related issues, providing timely updates to stakeholders and escalating as necessary
  • Support the execution of contingency plans and emergency procedures, ensuring logistics operations adapt quickly to changes
  • Participate in daily briefings, debriefings, and situation reports to communicate logistics status, risks, and recovery actions

Background & Requirements:

  • 7+ years of progressive logistics, supply chain, or venue operations leadership experience
  • Previous Venue Logistics management experience in a major event is strongly preferred – Olympic and Paralympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, FIFA World Cup, etc.
  • Proven management abilities overseeing workforce of 5+ direct reports and 50+ staff members
  • Excellent analytical skills: ability to make decisions both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong technical skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • A team player with a strong service focus and a desire to go the extra mile
  • Demonstrate ability in upward / downward communication
  • Competence to present and clearly communicate to audiences in a multitude of public / private settings, as required
  • Willing to work on complex, tight, immovable timelines while maintaining a positive attitude, exhibiting patience, persistence and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment
  • High attention to detail

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in Logistics, Sport Management, or relevant field, preferred]

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Expectation to work in LA28 offices in Los Angeles
  • Primarily office-based conditions with extended periods of sitting, working on a computer, and attending virtual or in-person meetings.
  • Occasional travel to various venues, warehouses, or vendor meetings may be required.

The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000.00 - $126,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
