Our 2000 local experts, backed by our global experience and network of partners, are working to solve the world’s toughest challenges in government, intelligence, defence, aviation, border protection and health markets.
Your New Role and Responsibilities
This role is responsible for the reliability, availability, security, and operational performance of a mission-critical health platform delivered across multi-cloud and on-premises environments.
The SRE Lead / Platform & Environment Manager combines site reliability engineering, platform leadership, and secure systems integration to support a complex health capability. The role ensures platforms are resilient, interoperable, compliant, and ready for operational use, directly enabling improved clinical and decision-making outcomes.
In addition, the role leads a team of engineers and system administrators, drives integration health uplift, and ensures delivery of secure, scalable, and highly reliable environments aligned to architectural and regulatory standards.
This role is critical to ensuring that health platforms supporting national and Defence outcomes remain secure, reliable, and continuously available, enabling safe clinical decision-making and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Site Reliability Engineering and platform operations across cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, security, performance, and compliance with architectural standards.
Define and enforce SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets; lead incident response, escalation, root cause analysis, and resilience improvements to enhance platform reliability and reduce MTTD/MTTR.
Drive platform engineering excellence through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, automation, self-healing operations, and modern DevSecOps practices.
Lead deployment and integration of new health capabilities into customer environments, ensuring interoperability, operational readiness, and successful delivery of complex platform uplift programs.
Manage and mentor platform engineering teams while collaborating with architects, delivery teams, vendors, and stakeholders to provide reporting on platform health, risks, performance, and operational impacts.
About You and What You'll Bring
Strong experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform engineering, or environment management, including multi-cloud and hybrid infrastructure, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD, automation, and DevSecOps practices.
Proven capability managing mission-critical, high-availability enterprise environments, including implementation of SRE practices (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets), incident management, system integration, interoperability, networking, and database platforms.
Demonstrated leadership experience leading and mentoring technical teams, establishing governance and operational standards, and engaging effectively with stakeholders across engineering, security, and operational functions.
Experience working in Defence, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments, with knowledge of ITIL or structured service management frameworks and a strong focus on security, compliance, resilience, and service continuity.
Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, after-hours support, and work within secure/classified environments.
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be able to gain a NV-1 level security clearance.
