Summary Perform all routine and special ultrasound procedures. Provide patients with safe, courteous and efficient care. Assist in other sections of the department as needed. Position Reports To: Radiology Manager Essential Functions Understands, performs, and accurately completes various ultrasound examinations including abdomen, renal, OB/GYN, small parts, and vascular studies in accordance with professional and facility protocols in a safe manner as instructed. Assist with interventional procedures using sterile technique including, but not limited to, biopsies, aspirations, localizations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis under the direction of a radiologist or APP. Maintains the cleanliness of the ultrasound unit and associated minor equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. Places lab specimens in proper location with proper labeling and forms filled in with correct patient information. Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition. Required to take standby and be on call, as needed. If on call, will be available within 20 minutes of notification of need (Central). Utilizes PACS, RIS, and current EMR efficiently and completes required documentation for each examination performed. Maintains licensures/certifications in current and good standing and complies with all continuing education requirements as dictated by regulatory entities. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification. Other duties as assigned. Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times. Qualifications Required: Completion of an education program approved by the ARDMS with clinical experience in ultrasound. ARDMS registered or registry eligible at hire date. If not registered, must be registered in one or more special areas (OB/GYN, ABD) within 6 months of hire date. Obtain RVT with ARDMS within one year of employment (Central Campus). Required to take standby and be on call, as needed. If on call, will be available within 20 minutes of notification of need for (Central). Desired : Previous experience in ultrasound.
