The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking well-qualified staff members with diverse backgrounds that reflect the ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. Under the general direction of the Chief of Legal Recruitment and Retention, the Legal Recruitment and Retention Coordinator supports the Office’s legal recruitment, onboarding, retention, workforce engagement, and pipeline development initiatives.
The Coordinator facilitates the movement of candidates through the end-to-end hiring process while also supporting strategic retention efforts through data collection, reporting, program coordination, employee engagement initiatives, and internship and pipeline programming. This position serves as both a forward-facing and behind-the-scenes role, requiring regular interaction with candidates, employees, interns, law schools, educational institutions, and internal stakeholders while also managing operational, analytical, and administrative functions that support the Office’s recruitment and retention strategy.
The ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and able to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
Job Responsibilities
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collect, maintain, analyze, and prepare recruitment and retention data, metrics, and reports to support strategic decision-making and workforce planning.
- Track recruitment pipeline activity, hiring outcomes, retention trends, internship participation data, and employee engagement metrics.
- Monitor and maintain recruitment and retention databases for accuracy, organization, and compliance.
- Prepare presentations, workforce reports, dashboards, and informational materials related to recruitment, retention, internship, and pipeline initiatives.
- Assist with identifying recruitment trends, operational challenges, and opportunities to improve hiring, onboarding, internship programming, and retention processes.
- Assist with developing and implementing initiatives designed to improve attorney engagement, employee experience, retention, and long-term pipeline development.
- Support the planning, execution, and operational coordination of recruitment, retention, internship, and pipeline initiatives.
- Support attorney admission and bar preparation initiatives by assisting with program coordination, communication, scheduling, participation tracking, and related operational support.
- Assist with stay interviews and retention feedback initiatives.
- Assist with the coordination and administration of internship and pipeline programming, including communication, scheduling, onboarding support, and program logistics.
- Support outreach and engagement efforts with law schools, colleges, universities, and other educational and community partners to strengthen recruitment pipelines.
- Write and post job descriptions on career websites, social media platforms, Bar Association databases, and law school job boards.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of job fairs, career events, outreach initiatives, pipeline programs, and law school recruitment activities.
- Assist with employee pre-boarding, onboarding, stay interviews and exit interview processes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on initiatives related to attorney engagement, professional development, onboarding, internship programming, and retention strategies.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion regarding sensitive personnel matters.
- Assist with operational planning and logistics related to legal recruitment travel, outreach, internship programming, and hiring events.
- Handle multiple assignments, deadlines, and competing priorities with strong attention to detail and independent judgment.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with recruitment analytics, workforce reporting, or dashboard creation preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment regarding sensitive personnel matters.
- Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), recruitment databases, and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
