Job Description
Under the direction and supervision of a registered and licensed dietitian, the dietetic technician performs nutritional screenings and assessments, manages patient diet preferences and meal plans, updates patient care plans, attends patient care plan meetings, and monitors patient weight and nutrition risk reports.Responsibilities

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
All documentation in the medical record will be supervised by an RD, LD.
Clinical Care: Complete initial nutrition screens, assessments as allowed, and required charting on patients/residents.
Referrals: Refer individuals identified as high nutritional risk to a registered, licensed dietitian in accordance with facility policies.
Care Planning: Document individual care plans with nutritional goals and attend care plan meetings as assigned.
Dietary Management: Ensure patient/resident preferences, allergies, and restrictions are communicated to FNS and that nutrition menus are strictly followed.
Operations & Oversight: Provide oversight of kitchen staff and monitor meal service as assigned.
Professional Development: Attend monthly in-services and assist the RD and director with presentations.
Telehealth: Provide nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy via approved telehealth platforms in compliance with HIPAA and state regulations.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all facility policies, confidentiality/rights policies, OSHA, and Emergency Preparedness Programs.
Clinical Support & Flexibility
Provide comprehensive nutrition care remotely or across multiple healthcare sites and populations when needed.
Demonstrate adaptability in integrating into diverse teams, workflows, and electronic medical record systems.
Manage caseloads and prioritize care efficiently to ensure coverage during staffing shortages or high-demand periods.
Travel as needed for clinical support as assigned by the Regional Director or VP of Clinical Nutrition.
Job Specifications
Credentials: Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a DTR (or Registration Eligible), and/or licensed with the state as an LD or LDT, or a bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition.
Certifications: Food handler or ServSafe certification as required by state regulation.
Experience: Applicable work experience preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficient computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word).
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
