Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Classification and Customs Reconciliation Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be a key player in ensuring that WNC’s business transactions are executed in compliance with all applicable Customs regulations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications applicable for the United States, the European Union and other World Trade Organization countries throughout the world
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation to support the Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications assigned.
  • Determine the correct ECCN classifications applicable for WNC products, components, supplies, and materials.
  • Determine if any applicable WNC products, components, supplies, and materials are classified as dangerous goods and provide the subsequent UN labeling and documentation requirements.
  • Depending on experience and qualifications, you may perform other responsibilities such as ensuring that internal controls regarding the tariff classification, including written procedures, are fully implemented to ensure audit-ready import compliance; training all functions outside the trade compliance team on an annual basis so that internal controls remain current and reflective of actual business practices, and other functions' practices support full compliance with customs regulations.

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to correctly assign harmonized tariff codes to products.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills and global mindset.
  • Detail-oriented, possessing good analytical skills; able to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.
  • Self-motivated and able to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks, with little or no direct supervision.
  • Customer-focused and a strong team member, able to shift roles as required by the group dynamic (e.g. contributor, facilitator).
  • Fluent in English (mandatory)
  • Proficiency in three of the following: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio.
  • 5+ year working experiences.
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred:

  • Customs compliance experience in a manufacturing environment in a major corporation or professional services firm.
  • Engineering or other technical experience.
  • Leadership skills and experience managing outside service providers.
  • Experience using Six-Sigma tools to drive process improvements.
