About the Team

The Keysight Labs MMIC and System-in-Package (SiP) Design team in Böblingen develops advanced microwave and mmWave integrated circuits and packaging technologies enabling next-generation applications in AI infrastructure, 5G/6G communications, automotive radar, aerospace, and high-performance computing systems.

The team works at the forefront of RF and mmWave innovation, collaborating closely with semiconductor technology teams, modeling experts, IC designers, and Keysight Centers of Excellence to develop cutting-edge technologies that power future test and measurement solutions.

As part of a highly collaborative and research-driven environment, you will contribute to the validation and characterization of breakthrough RF/mmWave technologies operating beyond 100 GHz.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Senior RF/mmWave IC Test & Characterization Engineer to support the validation, characterization, and measurement of advanced MMICs, RFICs, and semiconductor technologies.

In this role, you will develop and execute sophisticated characterization methodologies for high-frequency devices and test structures, enabling compact model development, technology qualification, and product validation for next-generation RF and mmWave applications.

You will work closely with IC designers, technology teams, and modeling engineers to correlate simulations with real silicon measurements and help drive future RF/mmWave product development.

This position is ideal for engineers passionate about advanced RF measurements, high-frequency instrumentation, automation, and semiconductor characterization at the leading edge of mmWave technology.

Responsibilities

RF/mmWave IC Characterization

Develop and execute characterization methodologies for MMICs, RFICs, and semiconductor test structures.

Perform device validation, technology qualification, and correlation measurements for advanced RF/mmWave technologies.

Support compact model extraction and verification activities.

High-Frequency Measurements

Perform on-wafer and packaged-device measurements using advanced RF and mmWave instrumentation.

Operate and optimize VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, probe stations, and related measurement systems operating above 100 GHz.

Conduct S-parameter, noise, power, linearity, and large-signal measurements.

Test Automation & Data Analysis

Develop automated measurement and data-processing workflows using Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting/programming languages.

Improve measurement repeatability, throughput, and data quality through automation.

Analyze large measurement datasets and correlate results with simulations and expected device behavior.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with IC design, semiconductor technology, packaging, and modeling teams to define characterization requirements and debug measurement issues.

Collaborate with simulation and modeling engineers to correlate measured and simulated results.

Support technology and product development milestones across multidisciplinary R&D teams.

Technical Documentation

Document characterization methodologies, measurement setups, and technical findings.

Present results and recommendations to internal engineering teams and stakeholders.

Contribute to internal best practices and measurement standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.

Industrial experience in RF/mmWave IC testing and characterization.
