Job description

Location: Aztec West, Bristol (hybrid working)

Grade: B/C

Salary: £56,000 - £66,000 depending on experience

Want to take on a role where your expertise shapes the delivery of one of the UK’s most important energy projects? At EDF, “Success is Personal” – and in this role, you’ll play a key part in driving the technical delivery of critical contracts that support the future of low-carbon power, while growing your own career along the way.

Join us in our journey to an Electric Britain.

The Opportunity

EDF EPR Engineering plays a key role in delivering new nuclear power. As we support An Electric Britain, we’re building on the success of Hinkley Point C to deliver Sizewell C.

You’ll join our Mechanical Branch, helping manage the equipment contracts that sit at the heart of the nuclear island design. It’s a chance to take on meaningful work that really matters.

The Role

As a Contract Engineering Lead, you’ll take ownership of the technical side of key mechanical equipment contracts for Sizewell C. You’ll make sure everything stays on track, meets requirements, and supports the wider project.

You’ll also lead and support Technical Leads, helping the team deliver across design, manufacturing and qualification.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead technical and project meetings for your contracts
  • Support the team to solve engineering challenges and keep delivery moving
  • Review and approve contractor designs and deliverables
  • Manage design changes and keep configuration up to date
  • Oversee contract updates, amendments and approvals
  • Coordinate Technical Leads and help prioritise their work
  • Plan resources to meet time, cost and quality expectations
  • Work closely with project managers, designers and client teams
  • Track performance and highlight risks early
  • Support qualification activities in line with project needs
  • Build strong links with Hinkley Point C teams to support design replication

This role focuses on the Sizewell C project but has a strong link to HPC activities. There is also the possibility that you’ll also have the chance to visit suppliers in the UK and overseas from time to time.

Who You Are

You’re someone who enjoys working with others, solving problems and taking ownership of complex work. You bring strong technical knowledge and know how to keep things moving in a structured environment.

You’ll need:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in engineering or a related scientific subject
  • Experience working with mechanical equipment in a regulated environment, ideally nuclear
  • A track record of managing engineering contracts or technical delivery
  • Understanding of equipment like pumps, filters or pressure systems
  • Experience leading or coordinating technical teams
  • Confidence managing design changes and technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with different teams
  • Familiarity with nuclear or similarly regulated industries

Location & Ways of Working

This role is based at our #Bristol office in Aztec West, with hybrid working in place. There will also be occasional travel across the UK and internationally to visit suppliers.
