Position Details
The Technical Writer will play a critical role in bridging the gap between product teams and clients by creating clear, concise, and high-quality documentation and communication materials.
This position involves managing documentation initiatives, defining content structures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Beyond technical documentation, this role acts as a Technical Product Storyteller, translating complex technical capabilities into compelling sales pitches, product briefings, and value-proposition materials for internal stakeholders and external clients.
The role includes establishing documentation standards, supporting product teams in creating consistent content, and improving communication processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation: Develop, write, and maintain technical documents, including user manuals, quick start guides, product specifications, and developer onboarding materials.
- Sales Enablement: Draft and refine high-impact sales materials, such as product one-pagers, value-proposition decks, and technical capability summaries that highlight competitive advantages.
- Strategic Communication: Translate complex technical features into business-value narratives tailored for non-technical stakeholders, management, and potential clients.
- Governance: Define and implement documentation structures, templates, and style guides to ensure consistency and clarity.
- Project Management: Manage technical writing initiatives, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating documentation projects.
- Collaboration: Act as a liaison between product teams, marketing/sales, and clients to ensure documentation and pitches meet user needs and support customer success.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to product teams on best practices for creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve documentation processes and AI-assisted workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Technical Communications, or a related field.
- Experience: More than 3 years of experience in technical writing, specifically for SaaS, API-driven platforms, or complex enterprise ecosystems.
- Versatility: Proven ability to create both deep-dive technical documentation (specs, manuals) and persuasive, client-facing sales materials (pitches, briefs).
- Language Skills: Full professional proficiency in both English and Japanese (Business level or higher).
- AI Proficiency: Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted tools for content generation, editing, and documentation maintenance.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to quickly digest complex system architectures and translate them into accessible content for diverse audiences.
- Agile Mindset: Ability to work in an Agile environment, responding to rapid feedback and changing requirements.
- Soft Skills: Strong project management and stakeholder management skills; ability to organize activities in an orderly manner and meet deadlines.
Desired Qualifications:
- Documentation as Code: Experience with modern documentation workflows (e.g., Markdown, Git/GitHub, Hugo, Docusaurus).
- Operational Background: Experience in product operations, technical support, or developer relations (DevRel).
- Tooling: Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and process mapping tools.
- Visual Storytelling: Experience creating professional presentations (PowerPoint/Keynote) or visual assets (Figma, Lucidchart, Draw.io) to communicate technical value.
- Metrics-Driven: Experience measuring the impact of documentation and sales collateral using KPIs (e.g., ticket reduction, engagement analytics).
- Experience: Previous experience in product management, project management, or engineering roles.
