ABOUT THE ROLE
Highwinds is seeking a Financial Controller to run our entire finance department across a growing portfolio of companies in the consumer lending lead generation space. This role is ideal for a highly capable finance professional who combines deep accounting fundamentals with a builder's mindset, someone who sees a manual process and immediately thinks about how to eliminate it.
You will personally own every finance function, weekly invoicing and payment cycles, A/R across a high-volume two-sided marketplace, monthly close, FP&A, and reporting, while working directly with the Founder & CEO. The ideal candidate has experience supporting U.S.-based SaaS, fintech, or marketplace businesses and is comfortable operating with full ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Run weekly invoicing for clients (lender buyers) and manage A/R end-to-end, including aging and active collections
- Oversee weekly payments to vendors, publishers, and partners
- Own the full accounting cycle across multiple entities and operating companies
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare financial statements and management reporting packages for the CEO and leadership team
- Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, budgets, and cash flow projections
- Deliver KPI dashboards and unit-economics analysis by buyer, publisher, and product line
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment processors
- Partner with Compliance on SOC2 readiness, financial controls, and audit support
- Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors as needed
- Identify and implement automation and workflow improvements across the accounting stack
- Assist with finance and accounting needs for newly launched entities and business lines
- Serve as a key operational partner to the Founder & CEO and leadership team
- Help establish and lead finance operations within Latin America as the company expands
REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or controllership experience
- Experience supporting U.S.-based companies and U.S. accounting practices
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Deep QuickBooks Online experience this is the primary accounting system
- Experience in SaaS, fintech, marketplace, lending, or recurring-revenue business models
- Proven experience managing high-volume invoicing and payment operations
- Strong FP&A, financial reporting, and business analysis capabilities
- Experience working across multiple legal entities or business units
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment
SUCCESS METRICS (FIRST 3–6 MONTHS)
- Fully own weekly invoicing, payment cycles, and A/R operations across all entities
- Deliver timely and accurate month-end closes and financial reporting packages
- Improve reconciliation processes and reduce manual work through automation
- Establish reliable forecasting and financial planning workflows
- Create greater visibility into business performance through KPI dashboards and unit-economics reporting
- Become a trusted finance partner to the Founder & CEO
- Develop a roadmap for scaling the finance team within our LATAM operation
COMPENSATION & LOGISTICS
- Compensation: $3,000–$3,500/month
- Location: Remote, Latin America (Colombia preferred)
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Time Zone: CST business hours overlap required
