Job description
The Lab Support Technician plays a critical role in maintaining day-to-day laboratory operations within a regulated environment. This position focuses on lab organization, equipment upkeep, inventory management, and coordination across teams to ensure efficient workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and media preparation
- Manage inventory systems and ensure proper stock levels
- Clean, monitor, and maintain controlled temperature units, fume hoods, and biological safety cabinets (BSCs)
- Safely handle and transport compressed gases and cryogenic materials
- Utilize electronic systems to track equipment maintenance, calibration, and workflows
- Coordinate with multiple teams to support lab operations across departments and sites
- Manage lab notebooks and logbooks, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for all records and data entry
- Support routine equipment maintenance and calibration activities
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and labeling of lab spaces
- Work in environments handling potent chemical compounds
- Support multiple laboratory locations (within a short commuting distance)
- Complete all safety and procedural training requirements
- Associate degree in Life Sciences or equivalent hands-on experience
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Close attention to detail and the ability to follow regulated procedures
- Knowledge of cGMP environments preferred
- Ability to work both independently and on a team
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, and reliability
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records
- Must be able to meet physical demands (lifting up to 25 lbs, standing/walking for extended periods, pushing/pulling equipment)
- Must have reliable transportation between nearby sites (<5 miles)
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
What to Expect in the Hiring Process:
- 10-15 Minute Phone Interview with Region Recruiter
- 45-60 Minute Virtual Interview with Manager and/or Group Leader
- 30 Minute Virtual Meeting with the Site Director
The position is on-site, full-time, first shift, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be flexible to adapt to schedule changes that may require shift changes and/or weekend work, and overtime may be required as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Rensselaer, New York, are encouraged to apply.
