Job Summary

The Sr. Specialist Employee Relations is part of the Employee Relations team reporting to the Manager of Employee Relations. The Sr. Specialist Employee Relations will advise, guide, and coach Hershey’s corporate people managers on employment matters including policy interpretation, HR procedures, employee conflicts, engaging employees, and performance management. This role will be expected to partner with the HR Center of Excellence (COE) and the Law department to ensure a fair and consistent approach to policies and procedures, thus promoting a positive ER culture within the business.

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct investigations into alleged violations and make recommendations for remediation.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and counseling to HR and leadership to ensure the resolution of employment-related matters.
  • Manage assigned Employee Relations case management & investigations from intake through interview, transition, escalation, and redirection or closure. Maintains accurate and timely case files, documentation and follow up.
  • Provide guidance on the interpretation and administration of company policies, procedures, and programs. Monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and services.
  • Contribute to internal projects and workstreams as needed. Identify and recommend methods to resolve problems, update, simplify, enhance, and optimize existing processes, procedures, policies, and technologies. Lead cross functional continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that all services are effectively understood and delivered promptly.
  • Monitor, analyze and review company operations to assess level of compliance with existing and proposed state/federal laws to identify gaps through the Oversight of performance improvement plans, employee personnel files, and Unemployment case management.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years progressive HR or related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field
  • Strongly Prefer Master’s Degree in HR or related field
  • Professional Certification in HR, preferred
  • Employee Relations - Demonstrated proficiency in employee and/or labor relations strategy.
  • HR Technical Expertise - Thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures, and knowledge of Federal and State regulations, including EEO laws and regulations.
  • Risk Management - Identifies and constructively challenges policies and practices that produce legal.
  • Managing Investigations - Expertly conducts investigations of policy violations according to company process, company policy, and federal and state law.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to use data to create, develop and execute people strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly collaborative and influential and manage both within and across teams with minimal direction.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and optimize senior leadership, stakeholders, and peer groups.
  • Program and project management skills, and ability to operationalize and scale programs.
