Job description
Delivering advanced oncology care requires clinical precision, collaborative thinking, and a deep commitment to patients navigating some of the most complex diagnoses. This role places you at the center of that work within a high-performing Genitourinary Oncology team, where your clinical expertise directly shapes outcomes across the continuum of cancer care.
As an Advanced Practice Provider in Medical Oncology – GU, you will practice at the top of your license within a nationally recognized academic medical center, contributing meaningfully to both patient care and the advancement of oncology treatment.
The Role
This is a clinically dynamic, patient-centered APP position focused on Genitourinary Oncology, where you will partner closely with oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary specialists. The work blends autonomy with team-based decision-making in a setting that values both evidence-based care and innovation.
In a typical day, you will
Provide comprehensive evaluation and management for patients with GU malignancies across outpatient settings
Collaborate with attending physicians on treatment planning, chemotherapy management, and symptom control
Conduct follow-up visits, treatment monitoring, and survivorship care
Manage treatment-related toxicities, complications, and supportive care needs
Partner with a multidisciplinary team including pharmacy, infusion, radiology, and surgical oncology
Participate in a fast-paced clinical environment requiring strong clinical judgment and adaptability
Build meaningful relationships with patients navigating complex cancer diagnoses and therapies

Participates in professional governance through the APP Council
Attends team development meetings at local and departmental levels

Maintains appropriate licenses , certifications, and specialty training competencies
Participates in local, state, and national professional organizations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
Experience: Department and unit specific.
Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $116,123.00 - $171,163.20 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
