Logistics Analyst

The Challenge

The Logistics Analyst will be responsible for managing all aspects of customer deliveries from a specified Warehouse, converting inbound customer orders into outbound warehouse shipments utilizing the ERP system, Oracle Transportation Management (OTM). This person must coordinate closely with Sales, Transportation, our carrier base, and Customers to ensure customer delivery requirements are met while balancing cost and service.

What you will Do

  • Utilize ERP Web-Based system (OTM) to build and schedule shipments.
  • Manage all aspects of customer deliveries from a specified warehouse, converting inbound customer orders into outbound warehouse shipments.
  • Build customer orders into multi-stop truckload shipments taking into account factors such as customer preference, load, unload and transit time, geography, traffic, and mileage.
  • Select and assign the most-optimized motor carrier to each customer truckload and just-in-time (JIT) cross-dock shipments.
  • Negotiate a balance of daily and weekly capacity restrictions between and with the Appliance Distribution Centers and motor carrier management while maintaining 98% or greater “shipped in window” customer service levels.
  • Partner with the Transportation Analyst to ensure daily execution optimizes carrier capacity and cost while meeting on-time performance for customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize metrics trend data to develop and implement actions to improve service and reduce distribution costs.
  • Manage escalations with Customer Service, field sales, and customers to balance service and cost for the overall success of the business.
  • Resolve system errors daily, as needed, to ensure all shipments flow into the warehouse management systems.
  • Maintain shipping calendars for each SDS and create standard operating procedures for use by floaters during absences.

  • Cost/Price Management-must understand and manage the cost/price tradeoff with service in portfolio management
  • Financial Analysis
  • Logistics Management to include order management, shipment planning and execution, and outstanding communication skills
  • Supplier Relationship Management to include outstanding communication with suppliers
  • Systems Capability to include experience with Transportation Management/Control Tower software systems, Oracle, proficient in MS Excel/Access
  • Creative problem-solving skills and able to work cross-functionally to define and implement new processes.
  • Customer-focused with a proven record of resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Views changes in our internal and external processes as an opportunity to grow and improve
  • Strict Attention to Detail in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working in “gray areas” and is self-reliant and able to make decisions through resourcefulness, creativity, and expertise.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Web-Based applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong inclusive relationship skills are a must, for both external customers and internal teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum 3+ years relevant work experience in transportation or logistics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in order service, sales, transportation, or logistics
  • Previous experience in developing and working from Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Oracle ERP and OTM experience strongly preferred

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work remotely until office option resumes. Potential for flex work schedule in future.
  • <5% travel possibly required for domestic travel to customer sites/ plants, etc.
