Software Engineer in Test - Bet

We work as small agile squads consisting of engineers plus other supporting roles. As a Software Engineer in Test you will be key to driving the automation test approach for your squad. In addition you will be part of a wider test community responsible for championing improvements to quality and test automation across the Bet tribe.

You will help to test industry-leading web and mobile applications, built on virtualised and cloud platforms. You will be working in teams that are evenly balanced with a mixture of specialists across front-end and back-end technologies: it’s your attitude and potential to learn and grow we’re looking for, not an oracle of any discipline or specific technology.

Every Engineer is passionate about their team and drives improvements in their discipline and the quality of their team’s systems. They share knowledge with others and are constantly learning and adapting their skills to push themselves and their team further.

We are not building a monolithic Enterprise app - think micro-services and a lean approach with quick running tests and deployment.

We operate a no-blame culture where we focus on learning from mistakes and using that knowledge to make us more effective in future.

You will report into the Test Lead for the Bet Tribe, but day to day your work will be within your squads where you will be given the autonomy to determine how to best approach the automated testing of a squads’ applications and services.

Drive the test automation approach for your squad

•

Have a good appreciation of which features are smart to be automated based on ROI

•

Choose the right approach using a combination of UI and API tests as appropriate

•

Providing guidance and support to colleagues which enables the whole team to contribute to testing

•

Our engineers work closely with colleagues in all positions, so a good level of interpersonal skill is important to us

•

Proactively research emerging technologies and help introduce these where appropriate

•

Good understanding of Page Object automated test design patterns

•

Strong use of version control tools such as GIT

•

Proficient in JS or Java programming languages
