  • Expertise in diagnostic radiological physics
  • Evaluates radiological imaging procedures prior to clinical use
  • Develops/evaluates of policies and procedures related to the appropriate clinical use of radiation for imaging purposes
  • Assists in the management of a comprehensive quality management program that monitors and evaluates critical imaging equipment and processes
  • Reviews diagnostic imaging dosimetry information noted in patient records
  • Expertise in medical nuclear physics o valuates of nuclear imaging equipment or radioactivity measurement instrumentation prior to clinical use
  • Develops/evaluates of policies and procedures related to the appropriate clinical use of radiation for nuclear imaging/radioactivity measurement purposes
  • Reviews radiopharmaceutical dosimetry information noted in patient records
  • Assists in the management of a comprehensive quality management program that monitors and evaluates critical nuclear imaging and radioactive measurement equipment and processes
  • Consults on operation of a comprehensive clinical radiation safety program for patient or personnel radiation dose and associated risks
  • Expertise in medical health physics o Audits regulatory program
  • Prepares RAM license and license amendments o Calibrates equipment
  • Reviews dosimetry information
  • Consults on patient radiation dose and associated risks

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in medical physics, radiologic physics, physics, or other relevant physical science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution, and, formal coursework in the biological sciences with at least: 1 course in biology or radiation biology, and 1 course in anatomy, physiology, or similar topics related to the practice of medical physics.
  • 1 to 3 years or more of documented experience in a clinical environment preferred.
  • Board Eligible (to completion within 2 years of hiring) /Board Certified or Education/Experience preferred

Certifications Desired: American Board of Radiology, or American Board of Medical Physics in Diagnostic Radiology or Medical Imaging, or equivalent

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • State Licensure/Registration (where required)
  • Strong background in radiation safety and regulatory compliance
