Job description

Job Title : Safety & Health Specialist 3 rd Shift Location : De Queen Arkansas Complex Hours : 3rd Shift 11 :00 PM to 7:00 AM, flexible as required Saturday hours as needed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Help identify and anticipate safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions; assessing new equipment and procedures; investigating violations and recommending preventive programs.
  • Enforces safety policies by conducting audits; reporting statistics and counseling managers and employees.
  • Investigate all near misses, first aid cases, Recordable, lost day injuries, and vehicular accidents within 24 hours, as well as track closure on all recommendations.
  • Spend time being visible in the processing plant and other site locations.
  • Conduct periodic safety and health audits and track findings to ensure closure.
  • Conduct authorized training for the following topics: Powered Industrial Trucks, Lockout Tag-out, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, and other topics as assigned.
  • Enter information into accident, training completion and corrective action databases accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide training support to the organization and ensure that all required monthly training is completed as scheduled.

EXPECTATATIONS – all Team Members

  • At least three years of directly related experience in an industrial environment
  • Ability to accurately record and communicate safety incidences to complex management
  • Must have a solid knowledge of OSHA and safety regulations
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to work varying shifts and weekends as needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Bachelor’s Degree in industrial safety, safety engineering or related experience in the field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Safety.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple tasks effectively, as well as possess the knowledge of applying applicable OSHA regulations. EOE/Vet/Disabled
