Job description

We are working with a major, New York based utility company seeking one to three (1 - 3) Commercial Litigation Contract Attorneys to assist the company's Legal Services Department doing legal work relating to commercial, mass tort, and, especially, general litigation matters. The company desires to fill the position as soon as possible. The work is expected to endure for at least three (3) months and, potentially, significantly longer. The position is onsite during the training period and, after training, hybrid with three days in office and two remote. Wednesday is a required in-office day. Compensation is $100/hr.

Responsibilities

The hired attorneys will assist the company's lawyers with pre-trial work; however, court and deposition coverage are not contemplated. They will prepare draft answers; review file post-notes of issue for completeness; draft dispositive motions and other motions; summarize depositions and medical records; write up requests for authority; research verdicts and legal issues; and prepare legal memoranda.

Qualifications

Premises liability experience is essential, as most cases requiring attention fall into that category. Familiarity with discovery rules and documents, as well as with settlement values, is also very important. A broad commercial and general litigation background is much appreciated for this role. Familiarity with mass tort cases is a plus, but is not required. A license in good standing to practice in New York is required.

Other Details

  • Duration: At least three (3) months and, possibly, longer
  • Location: Onsite in New York during training; hybrid after training period (Wednesdays + 2 additional days onsite; 2 days remote)
  • Compensation: $100/hr.
  • License: New York licensure in good standing is required.

The company is proud of its stability and its appreciation of its employees.
