Horticulturist / Assistant Project Manager

Role description

We provide soft landscape design consultancy services to a variety of clients and we have an immediate opening for an experienced Horticulturist.

Role accountabilities

• Conduct the tree survey inspection and tree risk assessment;
• Prepare statutory submissions for landscape works and tree works;
• Provide planting design for government and private projects;
• Provide support to landscape architect / landscape designer to resolve project difficulties;
• Prepare tender submission for projects and cost budgeting;
• Responsible for project management and financial performance of projects;
• Supervision of tree works and planting works in construction site;
• Prepare field officer report.

Qualifications & Experience

• A Diploma in horticulture, botany or biology or appropriate related discipline from a Hong Kong recognized institution or university or equivalent and have attained Level 2 or above in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent (Note: Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE is accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth) together with at least FIVE years relevant post-qualification experience.
• Preferably have valid qualification or certification awarded by recognised institution or industry organisation on arboriculture, such as Certified Arborist of ISA, Accredited Arboricultural Practitioner of the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects;
• Completed and passed training programmes in tree risk assessment recognised by the TMO, such as Tree Risk Assessment Qualification by the International Society of Arboriculture, Professional Tree Inspection by Lantra Awards;
• Good ability in tree identification;
• Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese;
• Good co-ordination and interpersonal skills;
• Willing to learn, well organized, self-motivated and attentive to details;
• Immediate available is highly preferred;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC knowledge.
