Job description

The Module Development Specialist is responsible for leading the design, enhancement, and governance of learning modules used across the Resourcing, Development, and Engagement training lifecycle—including onboarding, post‑onboarding, leadership development, product training, and digital learning pathways.

The role ensures that all static and digital modules remain current, accurate, aligned, and compliant with updates from Operations, Products, Compliance, Bank partners, and other business units. This position also provides oversight and technical direction to the Digital Learning Team to ensure high-quality digital content that meets learning, product, and business requirements.

This position requires advanced expertise, independent judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership of end-to-end module lifecycle management.

Position Responsibilities

Module Development & Enhancement (Static and Digital)

Lead the design, review, enhancement, and maintenance of all existing Resourcing, Development, and Engagement modules.

Develop new modules for training programs (Bancassurance Sales Training, Advanced Financial Sales Associate, Leadership, Investments, etc.) as needed.

Translate complex topics (e.g., operations processes, product updates, investment concepts, compliance requirements) into clear, accessible, learner-friendly content.

Ensure all modules adhere to Manulife branding, standards, guidelines, and learning methodologies.

Module Alignment with Business Updates

Serve as the primary liaison for module accuracy when updates occur in:

Operations and New Business processes

Product updates, launches, and changes

Agency or Bancassurance workflows

Bank partner requirements

Licensing, Compliance, and regulatory changes

Maintain a central version control system ensuring modules are updated, archived, and deployed correctly.

Conduct impact assessments whenever business changes arise and proactively identify modules requiring updates.

Digital Learning Oversight

Provide expert review and guidance to the Digital Learning Team as they convert static modules into digital formats (videos, animations, e-learning, simulations, micro-learning).

Review digital learning prototypes, storyboards, scripts, and final outputs to ensure accuracy and alignment.

Recommend instructional design improvements and ensure digital content supports Resourcing, Development, and Engagement’s learning strategy.

Quality Control & Governance

Establish and maintain a standardized Module Quality Framework that governs structure, learning design, tone, branding, and accuracy.

Conduct periodic audits of all modules and digital learning content to ensure compliance.

Manage feedback cycles from trainers, Financial Sales Associates, leaders, and business partners to improve module quality.

Cross-functional Coordination & Collaboration

Work closely with

Training Team – to understand training gaps and future requirements

Product, Operations, Compliance – for content accuracy

Bancassurance (Bank partners) – for bank-specific alignment

Digital Learning – for digital content creation and enhancements

Lead content alignment discussions and ensure stakeholder feedback is incorporated into final materials.

Learning Experience Innovation

Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, and methods for effective module creation (e-learning tools, video editing, graphic design, learning experience platforms).

Introduce modern learning design techniques (interactive learning, microlearning, knowledge checks, scenario-based design).

Support the creation of learning pathways that integrate static modules, digital components, assessments, and field application.

Training Support (as needed)

Provide trainer support by ensuring modules are ready, updated, and deployment-ready for facilitators.

Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with trainers and digital designers to ensure proper understanding of the materials.

Required Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience in

Insurance training

Module development

Instructional design

Digital learning production or coordination

Experience with learning systems, digital platforms, and content creation tools.

Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Education, Business, Communications, or related fields).

Familiarity with Manulife China Bank Life Assurance Corporation products, systems, and operations is a strong advantage.

Deep knowledge of insurance products, operations, and field practices.

Strong instructional design, module writing, and curriculum development expertise.

Proficiency in digital learning tools (e-learning authoring tools, LMS, video editing, animation tools).

Excellent comprehension of regulatory, compliance, and product update cycles.
