Job overview and responsibilities

The Manager – Quality Engineering, Automation & Agentic AI will lead the evolution of Quality Engineering from traditional testing to modern, automation-led, intelligence-driven quality practices. This role is accountable for building scalable automation frameworks, embedding quality controls into CI/CD pipelines, improving release confidence, and enabling AI-powered quality capabilities across enterprise applications. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth in automation architecture, API and integration testing, cloud-native quality engineering, performance engineering, and DevOps quality practices with the ability to lead teams, influence engineering partners, and drive measurable quality outcomes.

  • Define and execute the Quality Engineering strategy, automation roadmap, and engineering standards across multiple products and technology stacks.
  • Lead design, modernization, and adoption of scalable automation frameworks covering UI, API, integration, contract, mobile, and end-to-end testing.
  • Embed continuous testing, automated quality gates, and release-readiness controls into CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment confidence and reduce late-cycle risk.
  • Drive Agentic AI-enabled quality capabilities including autonomous test generation, test maintenance, defect analysis, regression optimization, and intelligent release validation.
  • Establish quality practices for cloud-native, microservices, distributed, and event-driven architectures, with strong focus on API reliability and integration validation.
  • Lead performance engineering, resiliency testing, observability-led quality validation, and production quality feedback loops.
  • Partner with Engineering, Architecture, Product, DevOps, and Release teams to shift quality left, reduce escaped defects, and improve engineering productivity.
  • Coach QE leads and engineers, build technical capability, and foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, Test Automation, or Software Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience leading Quality Engineering, Automation Engineering, or SDET teams.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and scaling enterprise automation frameworks.
  • Strong hands-on understanding of Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, continuous testing, and release quality practices.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications with complex integrations, distributed systems, and modern delivery models. Technical Skills
  • Automation & Testing: Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured, ReadyAPI, Postman, AccelQ, BDD frameworks, Groovy scripting, reusable automation libraries, and test data strategies.
  • Programming & Engineering: Strong Java experience, object-oriented design, debugging, root cause analysis, framework design patterns, and reusable engineering components.
  • API & Integration: REST services, contract testing, service virtualization, messaging frameworks, backend validation, and enterprise integration testing.
  • Cloud & Architecture: AWS services, cloud-native platforms, microservices, distributed systems, containerized environments, and event-driven computing patterns.
  • DevOps & Observability: Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins, Harness, Jira, Datadog, Kibana, Splunk, and application monitoring platforms.
  • AI & Agentic Quality: Practical understanding of LLMs, AI agents, RAG, MCP, AI orchestration patterns, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI, LangGraph or similar AI agent frameworks.

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Experience in airline, transportation, travel, hospitality, or other large-scale operational technology domains.
  • Experience leading quality transformation, automation modernization, or enterprise testing platform initiatives.
  • Experience implementing AI-driven testing, autonomous quality gates, intelligent release validation, or Agentic AI solutions.
  • AWS, Azure AI, OpenAI, ISTQB, CSTE, performance engineering, automation, or related certifications.
