Senior Azure Data Engineer (Contractor) - Turkey

We are seeking a Senior Azure Data Engineer (Contractor) to lead the design and delivery of a modern, cloud-based data warehouse on Microsoft Azure, with a strong focus on Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure-native data flows and pipelines, and Power BI. This is a hands-on senior role requiring deep technical expertise, independent delivery, and close collaboration with business stakeholders. FMCG experience is a strong advantage to work with Coca-Cola on EME Markets.

This role is Hybrid and will requite someone to work 3 days a week in the office in Altunizade, near Istanbul

Key Responsibilities

•

Architect, build, and optimize an enterprise-scale data warehouse using Azure Synapse Analytics

•

Design, develop, and maintain data flows and pipelines within Azure, using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse pipelines, and related services

•

Implement data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration for structured and semi-structured data

•

Lead data modeling efforts for analytical and reporting use cases

•

Translate complex business requirements into scalable, high-performing technical solutions

•

Build and optimize Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, and dashboards

•

Ensure data quality, security, governance, and cost-effective performance

•

Perform SQL optimization and workload tuning across Azure data platforms

•

Collaborate with business users, BI teams, and technical stakeholders

•

Provide technical leadership, best practices, and comprehensive documentation for handover

Required Skills & Experience

•

5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or BI

•

Strong hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics

•

Proven experience designing and delivering Azure-based data warehouses

•

Extensive experience building Azure data flows and pipelines (Azure Data Factory / Synapse Pipelines)

•

Advanced SQL and strong data modeling skills

•

Solid hands-on experience with Power BI (datasets, DAX, reports)

•

Ability to work independently as a senior contractor and own delivery end to end

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

•

Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Engineering, or OneLake)

•

FMCG domain expertise

•

Experience with the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)

•

Familiarity with Azure Data Lake (ADLS Gen2) and Parquet/Delta formats

•

Knowledge of Azure security, RBAC, and data governance frameworks

•

CI/CD experience for Azure data and BI solutions

•

Microsoft certifications (e.g., DP203, PL300, Fabric-related certifications)
