Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson Health Care Compliance (HCC) is currently recruiting a Health Care Compliance Officer (HCCO) to support Innovative Medicine Research & Development (IM R&D), OCMO (Office of the Chief Medical Officer), and External Scientific Innovation (ESI) based in North America. This role reports directly to the HCC Director, Innovative Medicine Research & Development, North America, and is based in Titusville, NJ.

The Health Care Compliance Officer serves as a strategic compliance partner to IM R&D, OCMO, and ESI business teams, providing health care compliance guidance across research and development programs, initiatives, and processes with compliance relevance. The role supports compliant, ethical, and sustainable innovation by integrating Health Care Compliance principles into business strategy and execution.

The HCCO works in close collaboration with key stakeholders and subject matter experts, including Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Transparency Reporting, and other relevant functions, to ensure the effective implementation of Johnson & Johnson’s Health Care Compliance Program. Through proactive engagement, the role helps identify, mitigate, and manage compliance risks while enabling the achievement of business objectives in alignment with company values and applicable regulatory requirements.

In addition, the role provides compliance support for External Scientific Innovation (ESI) activities, working across internal and external partnerships to ensure appropriate oversight of research collaborations and third‑party engagements. The HCCO contributes to cross‑functional discussions, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen compliance by design across IM R&D, OCMO, and ESI operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess IM R&D business activities for compliance risk by interpreting company policies and procedures, ethical standards, and applicable federal, state and local laws and industry codes and ensuring adherence to internal processes and requirements.
  • Provide guidance, policy interpretations and recommended action plans to business partners at all levels to ensure business activities are compliant while achieving intended objectives.
  • Drive and enhance the compliance program through continuous risk assessment, accurate documentation, problem identification, corrective action & controls implementation, oversight & monitoring, investigation and follow-ups within HCC processes and systems. 
  • Assess compliance-related educational needs formulate and facilitate compliance training programs for all employees, agents, affiliated providers, or others working with the Business. 
  • Communicate company healthcare compliance standards and information updates on new laws and guidance to committee members, key business partners and agencies.
  • Address instances of non-compliance and ensuring consistency in the application of disciplinary action according to HCC Human Resources, and Law Department, mechanisms.
  • Proactively identify, build and implement process improvement opportunities including technology solutions using Artificial Intelligence capabilities to automate routine tasks, enabling acceleration of decision making and strengthening compliance processes.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Fluency in English required; additional market-specific languages preferred
  • A minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of business-related experience required.
  • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry with knowledge of Health Care Compliance programs and policies, Federal health care programs, and FDA requirements required.
  • Strong track record of working in a collaborative, matrixed environment with demonstrated evidence of maintaining relationships and partnerships with peers and business partners.
  • Broad business experience and a proven ability to influence business decisions and business partners to drive compliant growth
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and initiate process enhancements using technology solutions with ability to test and learn new solutions through Artificial Intelligence and technology support team partnerships to ensure solutions are aligned to compliance and business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and trends and communicate complex information to all levels of the company.
  • Working knowledge of Research and Development and commercial Sales and Marketing business strategies and tactics executed with scientific and commercial healthcare customers.
  • This position is located in Titusville, NJ and may require approximately 10% domestic travel.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with the governmental regulatory bodies and managing HCC company policies is preferred. 
  • Experience developing and implementing one or more elements of a compliance program in accordance with an organization's risk profile is preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$102,000.00 - $177,100.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
