Primary Job Duties

In a shop environment, the technician will perform testing, troubleshooting, and component repairs. The technician may also be required to work on aircraft systems, including the following:

  • Perform avionics checks and troubleshoot aircraft systems as needed.
  • Maintain proficiency in completing all required documentation and paperwork.
  • Repair avionics and electronic components in an avionics shop environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

A&P Mechanics who are interested in this General Avionics position may also apply, provided they intend to acquire the required time to qualify for testing for the FCC Radio License.

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret wiring manuals and schematics.
  • Effectively use component maintenance manuals to troubleshoot and test components.
  • Effectively use aircraft manuals to troubleshoot and repair avionics and electrical systems.
  • Possess basic avionics skills.
  • Exercise sound judgment when working with others in a team environment and in matters related to aircraft maintenance and safety.
  • Possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Provide the minimum required set of tools.

Experience and training must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited avionics school.
  • Military training in avionics or electronics.
  • An associate degree or higher in electronics.
  • Eighteen months of experience in the avionics industry.
  • A&P certification with prior avionics experience.

Must hold an FCC GROL license. If the FCC GROL license is not held at the time of employment, it must be obtained within six months of the hire date.

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Routinely lift up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This is a Department of Transportation safety-sensitive position.
