Job Description

Opportunity

Chewy is dedicated to being the most trusted and convenient destination for pet parents and partners everywhere. Within Chewy Vet Care (CVC), our Architecture & Concepts team plays a critical role in shaping the physical environments that enable high-quality veterinary care and exceptional customer experiences.

We are seeking a Senior Designer, Architecture & Concepts to help evolve and scale Chewy Vet Care formats. This role is responsible for developing and refining concepts that are beautiful, functional, durable, and cost-effective, while ensuring they are easy to build and efficient to operate across a growing portfolio.

As a key individual contributor, you will partner closely with cross-functional teams including Construction, Capital & Program Delivery, Medical, Operations, and Safety, to deliver design solutions that meet business needs while maintaining a high bar for design quality and consistency.

What You’ll Do

Evolve and refine Chewy Vet Care formats, translating business, operational, and pet parent needs into scalable design solutions

Develop multiple design approaches to solve programmatic, operational, and cost constraints, with a bias for action and iteration

Own the design and development of signage, millwork, lighting, finishes, and furniture, including prototype review and approval

Create high-quality design outputs using Revit and Enscape to clearly communicate intent and support downstream development

Ensure designs balance aesthetics, functionality, durability, constructability, and lifecycle cost efficiency

Own and maintain Chewy Vet Care Design Modules, defining design standards across all practice environments

Partner closely with Standards, Construction, and Capital & Program Delivery teams to ensure solutions are actionable, constructible, and aligned with budget and execution goals

Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical, Operations, Safety, and external architectural and engineering partners to ensure designs support clinical workflows and meet ADA and jurisdictional requirements

Conduct site, practice, and vendor visits to evaluate and iterate on design solutions

Drive improvements in speed and efficiency across test fits, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and documentation workflows

Support the maintenance and evolution of Chewy Vet Care BIM templates, Revit families, libraries, and documentation resources

Maintain drawing standards, including sheet setups, annotations, view templates, and quality control of drawing sets

Execute updates to standards, templates, and documentation systems as design concepts and business requirements evolve

What You’ll Need

7+ years of experience in architecture, interior design, or concept design

Proven experience working on the brand/owner side of retail development

Demonstrated success in multi-unit rollout with a focus on scalable design systems

Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Procore, and Smartsheet

Ability to develop high-level concepts and translate them into clear, executable design outputs

Strong understanding of architectural and interior design processes, from concept through construction

Ability to balance design quality, operational needs, and cost considerations

Strong ability to present design concepts, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders & leadership

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of ambiguity

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field

Veterinary or healthcare experience is a plus
