Job Overview
Engineering Lab Technician responsible for supporting lab operations, maintaining equipment, assisting in experiments, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments across various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, civil, and materials engineering.
- Support engineers and researchers in conducting experiments, tests, and analyses. This includes preparing samples, setting up experiments, monitoring processes, and recording data.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment. Coordinate with vendors for repairs and calibrations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols. Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
- Monitor and manage lab supplies and inventory. Order and restock materials and equipment as necessary.
- Work closely with engineers, researchers, and other lab technicians to support ongoing projects and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Provide guidance and training to new lab personnel and interns. Supervise and assist with their tasks to ensure adherence to lab protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, Laboratory Science
- Professional certificates in related field is preferred.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of relevant software and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently
Skills and Competencies Required
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, especially in data recording and analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 22 Kg.
- Comfortable working in a lab environment that may require standing for extended periods.
