The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Support clients in understanding supply market capacity, risk and opportunity
  • Lead the development of market management strategies that, through an insight‑led approach, understand, shape and optimise the external supply environment across complex categories and programmes.
  • Influence procurement and commercial strategies on major projects
  • Operate as a trusted advisor within multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of Turner & Townsend’s Supply Market Management offering

The role is market-facing and analytical in nature, focused on understanding, shaping and engaging supply markets, rather than operational supply chain delivery.

The SMM Manager will play a key role in delivering best‑in‑class supply market intelligence, supplier strategy and market engagement advice to public and private sector clients.

Working independently or leading small teams, the role holder will support business cases development, investment decisions, sourcing strategies and risk management by providing robust, evidence‑based insight into supplier markets, cost drivers, capacity constraints and emerging trends.

Main Expectations

  • Lead the development of supply market assessments, intelligence reports and insights to inform procurement and commercial strategies
  • Undertake market and supplier capability analysis, identifying capacity, resilience, innovation and risk across key categories
  • Shape and deliver market engagement and market‑sounding activities in support of major programmes and regulatory or investment gateways
  • Provide informed advice on supplier segmentation, relationship strategies and routes to market
  • Support the development of sourcing strategies through cost driver analysis, benchmarking and market insight
  • Manage and deliver defined SMM workstreams or commissions with accountability for quality, timeliness and outcomes
  • Engage confidently with clients and senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on supply market considerations
  • Collaborate with procurement, commercial, cost and project teams to integrate market insight into wider strategies
  • Coach and support junior colleagues, contributing to capability development within the SMM community
  • Contribute to internal thought leadership, knowledge sharing and the development of Turner & Townsend’s SMM service offering
