Overview
The Weld Supervisor is responsible for To inspect the welding, material handling, Material Storage, and general construction of new steel storage tanks, vessels and structures as well as repairs. The role directly reports to the Construction Manager and routinely interacts with Erection Superintendent.
Responsibilities
Quality Control Know and understand contractual requirements Inspect materials for correctness and damage Consult with the Authorized Inspector or Customer Representative Schedule NDE and notify applicable parties Ensure calibration on equipment is current Maintain records on site Welding Know and understand the contractual requirements Know and understand the WPS Keep track of welder qualifications Ensure electrode and consumable materials are properly stored and conditioned Ensure proper fit up and cleanliness of field weld joints Know and understand welder skill levels Communicate WPS requirements to welders Be able to demonstrate if needed Check welder progress and assist where needed Training Visually inspect each welders work and progress Provide welding demonstrations Encourage welders to achieve higher standards of quality and productivity Participate actively in safety awareness and training. Safety Leads by example Participates actively in safety meetings Actively participates in correcting un‐safe conditions Daily safety input through I Care, JSA, Good Catch, 5x5 programs Inspection and Testing Ensures work meets drawings, standards, and codes.
Ensures and assists testing and NDE is current and properly done Ensures all work is completed and signed off. Reports Record drawings Weld Supervisor Report Safety Questionnaire Check Lists RT/UT Reports Payroll Complete any other task required
Qualifications
Ability to read a standard measuring tape Advanced Self‐Awareness and Interpersonal skills A consistently developing Business and Technical Acumen coupled with a drive to achieve results Computer Skills: Communication Skills: Ability to effectively verbally communicate directions from craft supervisors and respond to questions from managers and fellow workers. Mathematical skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to read and understand drawings Must be able to set up and run CBI welding equipment Must be able to use a transit
