We’re looking for a Part-Time Resident Services Coordinator to join our team at our 628 unit affordable housing community located in Chicago, IL. The Resident Service Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for our residents by connecting them to essential services and fostering a sense of community. This position supports residents in maintaining independence, improving health outcomes, and creating a supportive environment within the housing community.

Position Summary

The Resident Services Coordinator, under the direction of the Community Center Manager, is responsible for engaging residents, connecting them to community resources, supporting programs and events, and assisting with the daily operations of the community center and technology center. This position helps create a welcoming environment that encourages resident participation, personal growth, and community involvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Resident Engagement & Support
  • Build positive relationships with residents and encourage participation in programs and services.
  • Conduct resident outreach through phone calls, door-to-door visits, and in-person engagement.
  • Connect residents to community resources, workforce development opportunities, supportive services, and educational programs.
  • Maintain records of resident contacts, referrals, and follow-up activities.

Programs & Activities

  • Assist with planning, promoting, and implementing community programs, workshops, and special events.
  • Coordinate enrichment activities for youth, adults, and seniors.
  • Recruit participants and support volunteer involvement.
  • Assist with program setup, supervision, and cleanup.

Youth Supervision

  • Supervise youth during community center activities, field trips, and special events.
  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants.

Technology Center Support

  • Assist residents with basic computer skills, email setup, online applications, job searches, and internet use.
  • Monitor and support the community computer lab and technology center.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report maintenance needs.

Administrative & Customer Service

  • Provide reception coverage, answer phones, greet visitors, and respond to resident inquiries.
  • Track attendance and maintain participant records.
  • Assist with data entry, scheduling, reporting, and other administrative tasks.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming community center.

Anticipated Salary Range

$17.00 – $19.00 USD per hour

This range is provided as a general guideline and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary depending on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, geographical location, and the specific responsibilities of the role. In addition to salary, this position may be eligible for performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Final compensation offers will be determined following a thorough assessment of the candidate’s background and the requirements of the position.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Customer Service or Community Engagement Experience Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of local community resources and federal/state programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, web-based reporting systems and other technology skills
  • Ability to work effectively with residents of diverse backgrounds and ages
  • Ability to supervise youth and support community-based programs
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate sensitive issues professionally.
  • A strong passion for social action, delivery of quality services and the preservation of affordable housing.
  • Demonstrates accountability and reliability by taking full ownership of projects and outcomes, prioritizing precision and attention to detail, and approaching challenges with grit, resilience, and proactive problem-solving, while continuously engaging in learning and development to enhance performance; fosters collaboration and a resident-centered environment, ensuring empathy, respect, and cross-functional success in all interactions.
