What You'll Need:
- High School Diploma or GED required; graduate from an accredited Neurodiagnostic program with 3 years of experience preferred.
- BLS required.
- EEG registry or eligibility for EEG registry preferred.
- Board eligibility for ABRET certification in EEG is required within 2 years of hire, and completion of ongoing departmental requirements for EEG board registry preparation is required within 3 years of hire.
What You'll Do:
- Performs routine and complex electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures, nerve conduction studies (NCV), evoked potential (EP) and others, depending on specialty area training.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the equipment operator's manual and calibration procedures. Identifies and corrects basic equipment issues when they occur.
- Performs Neurodiagnostic procedures using appropriate test strategy, electrode montage parameters, and calibration.
- Obtains all relevant information from the patient's medical record history and progress notes, and transfers this to the technologist's report.
- Adopts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results, based on medical history, clinical observations, and diagnostic test findings.
- Adheres to the standards of practice for test recordings, as outlined by ABRET.
- Maintains complete and accurate record keeping, including history forms and archived records of clipped data.
- Assists with the technical operation of specialized Neurodiagnostic procedures including long term monitoring, evoked potentials, intraoperative neuromonitoring and others as appropriate in specialty area.
- Verbalizes and implements appropriate actions during the onset of a seizure, and other patient medical emergencies.
- Demonstrates proper infection control practices throughout all aspects of care.
- Ensures hazardous materials are properly used and stored.
- Provides preceptor supervision to new technologists and student interns.
- Participates in ordering and maintaining supplies for the department.
