To provide the guest with high quality shipboard entertainment/activities options, by directing the development and implementation of the ship and shore programs in accordance with RSSC company policies.
Strives for guest service standards by ensuring that cruise staff employees adhere to RSSC standards.
Responsibility and Authority
Guest Experience
Demonstrates genuine concern for guests’ wellbeing at all times;
Ensures that all guest requests, inquiries and concerns are handled in a prompt manner;
Ensures that the Entertainment Department creates a warm, sincere, welcoming but fun environment around the ship.
Operational and Administrative
Directly responsible for the production of all entertainment activities, including evening entertainment, social events, deck sports, games, arts and crafts, board games, Bingo, Karaoke and General knowledge Quizzes, movies, lecturers, fitness program and religious services;
Ensures that entertainment staff has sufficient rehearsals and direction to deliver high quality entertainment experiences and consistent programming options;
Ensures that entertainment scheduling offers our guests the optimum level of choice, maximizing onboard resources whilst not interfering with F&B operations/ port times etc.
Ensures that all Guest Entertainers, lecturers, and external expertise hired to enhance the onboard experience are used wisely to maximize visibility and impact via appropriate scheduling and advertisement.
Monitors shipboard activities and shore excursions and takes corrective actions as required to ensure customer satisfaction.
Oversees the preparation of the daily program. Ensures that “Passages” includes accurate information in particular about entertainment, social activities and shore excursions.
Effectively communicates daily program to guests via onboard media.
Ensures that department heads and key personnel are aware of requirements included in the daily program, communicating to them on a regular basis to ensure accuracy of information/timings. Ensuring service levels are maintained.
With the assistance of the Broadcast Manager ensures that an informative and professional televised program is created and aired each day.
Overseas that all Televised programs/channels, movies, information etc. is accurately presented in line with RSSC guidelines.
Ensures that colleagues actively promotes and seeks guest’s interaction by informing guests of upcoming events and activities as part of his/her social duties;
Ensures that all Public Announcements are made in a consistent, professional manner in line with RSSC guidelines. Cruise Director to always be the person to make such announcements unless unavailable.
Assists Destination Manager during Debarkation process and Tender operation by making all required Public Announcements
To be familiar with the basic operation of technical equipment (sound and light) within Lounge areas;
Participates in Gangway duties during embarkation/debarkation process, ensuring guests are greeted in line with RSSC’s guidelines.
Ensures that General Manager as well as shore side operations are promptly and fully informed of shipboard activities and any areas of potential problems or unusual matters of significance so that prompt corrective action can be taken.
Serves as a liaison with the Destination Manager or Concierge for organizing private arrangements in ports for guests requesting such services i.e. private cars etc.
Act as a Master of Ceremonies for all shows
Performs cabaret as required (if applicable).
Offers support, expertise and direction to all sectors of the Entertainment Department, seeking external advice as required.
Monitors all shipboard activities and takes corrective actions as required to ensure guest satisfaction as well as company policies and procedures are adhered to.
Helps to create appropriate Cocktail Party Listings or table hosting arrangements, especially during longer cruises.
Receives rotations from shore side management, distributing to relevant parties as required, ensuring that all issues are dealt with appropriately.
Review Guest Comment Cards received and addresses issues
Prepares a detailed End of Cruise Report in line with company policy
Pro-active approach to problem solving;
Finance
Maintains stocks of all necessary entertainment supplies, staff uniforms and re-orders as required.
Assists onboard management with creating and organizing events each cruise to reward RSSC Loyalty Program in line with budgeted expenses.
Training and Development
Ensuring staff training, development and product knowledge is maintained at optimum levels to facilitate the guests’ experience.
Ensures that new team members are suitably trained in all procedures relating to the Entertainment department and also general shipboard knowledge; also retrains and updates team on new initiatives or procedures.
Communicates standards of performance to employees by also being an ambassador and role model of all company’s policies, procedures and standards.
Ensures adherence to the company defined appraisal system
Creates and maintains a positive work environment;

Fosters teamwork within all departments onboard;
Completes, participates and promotes RSSC’s Service Training Programs.
Assists the Director of Entertainment in implementing and maintaining guidelines, procedures and training practices set by the corporate office;
Identifies suitable candidates for promotion within department as required.

Safety
Monitor the practical application of the Company's policy, procedures and instructions.
Immediately report to the Master any instances where the vessel is unable or fails to comply with any Company’s policy, procedure, instruction, and any safety, environmental, or security requirement.
Actively participates in making announcements during Guest and Crew Drills, main person to communicate safety related information via ships PA system.
Complies with company safety and pollution prevention regulations.

Shipboard Experience essential in a similar role.
